The role of Automation Specialist is a new role that has been announced as part of the Belgium Automation Transformation.

This role will be part of a team, under the automation supervisor, which mission is to drive the vision of automation across a group of 4 to 6 MPUs/SPUs, by driving the implementation and application of Automation Strategy. The team provide automation knowledge to execute the automation operations & deliver local projectsforthe dedicated MPUs to ensure that all systems, equipment and facilities are properly maintained, safe and reliable.

The automation specialist is the expert on automation for equipment and systems in the dedicated MPUs, by delivering automation solutions for different technologies (process primary and secondary equipment, building equipment, utility equipment, environmental monitoring, alarms system, …)

The duty of the automation specialist is to execute projects to deliver direct and integrated automation solutions for the MPUs, from start of design to end of validation, while providing appropriate training, coaching and mentoring of users, maintenance and automation technicians.

Your responsibilities :
  • The automation specialist is the expert on automation for equipment and systems in the dedicated MPUs, by delivering automation solutions for different technologies
  • You will be responsible to deliver complex automation modification on existing equipment’s and ensure with high level of autonomy the following of L1/L2 project to ensure an easy take in hand of the equipment by the maintenance team
  • You will support the full system lifecycle for process automation and control system including the design, assessment, selection, commissioning, validation and implementation of systems. Contribute to manage and simplify several system/process/domain(s) of expertise, to reach state of the art in production environment.
  • You will be leading the execution of small projects (L1/L2) and ensuring that all related activities are executed in accordance with company procedures, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety and environment requirements, cost/profitability targets, and scheduling goals.
  • You will be assisting the Project Controls department to define all project documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans
  • You will follow-up on technical project tasks and manage planning & budget: ensure deliverables are reached in time, and within budget.
  • You will manage EHS aspects (Write & Review the PTW for projects activities, Coordinates the risks related to the coactivity, Collects and manages dangerous situations, Reports on EHS aspects and proposes resolution plans, …)
  • You will participate to project governance meetings
  • You will contribue to « rôle de garde »
  • You will train, coach and mentor the automation technicians and automation specialist junior based on your expertise.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Robust experience with automation projects
  • Background in the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred
  • Strong networking, influencing and negotiation skills to engage a broad community of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of specific Automation subjects as Data Management & Data Integrity, Obsolescence management, Cyber Security, process control systems is a plus
  • Organizational skills
  • Knowledge of GSK standards & systems is a plus
  • Proven project delivery experience within GSK is a plus
Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:
  • You are able to coordinate technical projects in a highly complex production environment. Operates in an environment that requires profound technical and scientific understanding of biological manufacturing processes.
  • You ensure alignment and prioritization with business, with automation staff and coordinate with the various actors in advanced automation and digitalisation outside of automation department
