Overview

The R&D department of KEMIN ANIMAL NUTRITION AND HEALTH – EMENAbased in Herentals, Belgium is searching a Chemist / Process Chemistfor our Innovation team. You will work together with colleagues and external partners worldwide to discover, research and develop new products and services that benefit animal feed and/or livestock.

The ideal candidate has a passion for science, more specific in the field of chemistry.You should have the drive to generate and report results in collaboration with the project teams and to present the results to inspire peers. You will drive the projects from idea to product( literature review, protocol development, experimental technicques, result analysis and scientific reporting) following the procedures as defined in our product innovation process. The members of the Product Innovation team work together with their local and global counterparts and external research partners to design new products and services in a commercial international setting in which strong communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities

As Chemist / Process Chemist you will spend 50% of your time in the lab and the other 50% you will conduct theoretical research. Your responsibilities will be:
  • Discover, research and develop new molecules, formulations, processes and services that can be applied to animal feed;
  • Design, planning, follow-up and reporting of experiments, trials, studies and analytical services in external CROs;
  • Plan and execute experiments in the lab, including interpretation writing and reporting of results in internal papers as well as in conference abstracts and peer reviewed journals;
  • Participate in and attend (inter)national scientific conferences, seminars, workshop;
  • Create and maintain accurate and timely records of test results and protocol design;
  • Design experimental procedures and protocols;
  • Scientific writing in all applicable formats;
  • Active participation in global projects teams, organize work and understand priorities;
  • Development and validations of methods in the area of Analytical chemistry by personal work at the laboratory bench or in collaboration with others;
Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Chemistry - Process Chemistry or a related field (bio-engineer - agcriculture engineer) with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a lab environment or a PhD degree
  • Technical expertise Chemistry
  • Experience with Synthetic
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Problem-solving skills when carrying out experiments, and the ability to find creative solutions;
  • Tenacity and patience, to see research projects through from design to completion;
  • Following lab procedures and safety guidelines closely and conduct experiments in a safe and efficient manner;
  • The ability and desire to work in a team and able to work with different personalities
  • Able to work on different projects at the same time
  • Attention to detail, organized, self-motivated and independent worker
  • Proven track record in scientific writing;
  • Must be fluent in English (writing and oral communication).
