Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. This includes monitoring and analyzing accounting data, producing financial reports or statements, establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as required. He/she is responsible for explaining, linking, and transferring financial insight to Business areas in the region for them to improve business results, by serving as a close liaison between Accounting and the other Finance areas in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management
    • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including month, quarter and end-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, and debt activity.
    • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
    • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
    • Proactively informs the Manager on relevant trends and developments.
    • Carries out any other general work-related tasks that are necessary and in the company’s interest.
  • Compliance and Audit
    • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
    • Support annual external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Team Management
    • Supervise and manage accounting staff.
    • Ensure that the team adheres to high ethical standards and provide coaching to foster a productive environment.
    • Closely liaises with different teams within the company: line management, accounts receivable, treasury, controllers, external accountants, and auditors.
  • Process Improvement
    • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Implement new financial systems or software as necessary to improve financial reporting and operational performance.
  • Reporting
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with local and group reporting requirements
    • Provide financial analyses as needed

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
      • At least 2 years in a supervisory role.
    • Skills:
      • Strong accounting knowledge, IFRS is a plus.
      • Proficiency with SAP and Excel.
      • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English, French is a plus.
