Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced and talented attorney to support Amazon’s European Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team. EAP team delivers forward-looking environmental programs to proactively address environmental compliance and waste management matters for Amazon operations.

This is an exciting position in a strategic and high-focus area that requires working with business leaders and environmental compliance and waste management, sustainability and public policy teams.

This position is based in Luxembourg but in special circumstances we may consider alternative European locations. Some travel may be required.

Key job responsibilities

You will be advising Amazon operations on a broad range of environmental, regulatory, and compliance matters. Principal duties include
  • providing day-to-day advice on environmental compliance and waste management matters at both European and national levels,
  • working with public policy on monitoring and analyzing upcoming environmental regulatory changes in environmental compliance and waste areas,
  • working with the EAP team to develop and improve compliance policies and procedures,
  • working cross functionally with other operations teams to develop waste minimization and waste management strategies and to ensure operational compliance,
  • resolving compliance issues that arise, and
  • handling regulatory interactions and inquiries.

Basic Qualifications
  • Fully qualified lawyer with outstanding academic qualification.
  • Post-qualification legal experience, with at least two years at an international law firm
  • Excellent English language skills
  • High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness, but also desire to be challenged
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be a partner to business stakeholders
  • Experience in managing a large number and variety of mission-critical projects and meeting deadlines
  • Practical business judgment and ability to qualify actual practical risk
  • Knowledge of German, Italian, French or Spanish Languages
