Chief Scientific Officer

Location: Ghent, Belgium

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

The Company

This role sits with an innovative biotech who are based in Ghent, Belgium. They are innovators in the microbiome space and have a diverse pipeline focused on various inflammatory diseases. They have compounds currently in early clinical development as well as compounds in R&D.

The Role

You will be responsible for progressing compounds currently pre-clinical development through translational development. You will also work closely with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that compounds are effectively transitioned into clinical development.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the recruitment of personnel into the team.

• Lead a team of over 20 scientists.

• Responsible for all pre-clinical and R&D activities.

• Responsible for all pre-clinical deliverables being met, reporting to the CEO.

• Represent the company at conferences and summits.

• Able to present data to BoD and stakeholders.

• Be responsible for all external collaborations.

Requirements

• PhD level education

• Over 12 years experience in drug development, with an understanding of the full value chain of drug development

• Experience in leading large teams.

• Be based in in Belgium or be able to travel to site.

• Strong people leadership skills and communication skills.

• Experience in Inflammatory Diseases is required as well as an understanding of the Microbiome.
