LKQ Corporation is the number one in automotive aftermarket in Europe! To reinforce our Legal team on Regional level, we are currently looking for a Regional Ethics & Compliance Counsel.

Purpose of the role:

Manages that the compliance activities meet mandatory requirements, fulfil LKQ needs and assist in actively mitigate risks across the Fource region (the Netherlands, Belgium and France). Leads integrated implementation and evaluation of compliance initiatives and on-going activities for compliance. Interfaces with various functional leads in the Fource region in the representation and development of various compliance programs, policies, and initiatives. Serves as LKQ Europe’s representative within Fource and advocate for excellence in compliance.

What will you be doing?

As a Regional Ethics & Compliance Counsel you will be in contact with a broad scale of stakeholders within the business, such as HR, Finance, Management, Risk and IT across the region. You will ensure guidance in changing governmental requirements and make these compliant to our sector of activities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide guidance to local management on various topics such as business ethics, investigations, antiretaliation, privacy, conflicts of interest, etc.;
  • Work closely with audit and risk to determine areas of mutual interest and develop effective compliance programs;
  • Initiate and guide the local development, improvement and implementation of policies and procedures related to the various compliance areas of oversight, in alignment with both mandatory rules and as LKQ’s Global Compliance Program;
  • Review, revise and implement LKQ’s compliance initiatives in response to changes in local law, audits, investigations and industry best practice;
  • Support the development of appropriate compliance training programs. Employ risk analysis to tailor training to roles, responsibilities, existing level of compliance and risk of non-compliance. Oversee ongoing compliance training;
  • Oversee compliance reviews in collaboration with relevant business units and functions;
  • Oversee and assist in any investigation activities;
  • Oversee adequate record maintenance and processes to document compliance efforts;
  • Oversee the assessment of targeted compliance issues, investigations or potential efforts;
  • Work with different stakeholders across LKQ to maintain governance for the compliance program and to ensure understanding and operational readiness against all applicable European regulations as they evolve;
  • Actively participate in LKQ compliance and privacy working groups and taskforces;
  • Work with Risk to oversee initial and periodic risk or impact assessments, mitigation and remediation;
  • Be an integral part of and drive the Fource Risk & Compliance Committee.

Who is our ideal Regional Ethics & Compliance Counsel?

  • You possess a Master’s degree in Legal, Regulatory and/or Compliance related studies;
  • You have 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a leading law firm and/or international corporate in a compliance, regulatory and/or legal role;
  • You demonstrate understanding of compliance systems and controls, awareness of corporate governance requirements and risks and a passion to drive improvement;
  • You are a strong communicator in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of French or Dutch is a strong asset;
  • You have strong analytical and critical skills;
  • You are able to build strong working relationships wand influence across an international, complex matrix organization;
  • You manage and impart confidential information;
  • You are passionate about your job and take ownership of your role;
  • You work well independently and take accountability and responsibility for your position;
