Company Summary:
We are glad to be retained by one of the global providers (headquartered in Belgium) of innovative and reliable railway passenger information and communication systems. With about 40 years’ of experience in the rail industry, they are undergoing full expansion and using the latest technologies to offer high-demanding customers reliable railway passenger information systems.
Due to expansion, they are looking for a Customer Service Engineer (hybrid in Izegem, Belgium) to help support their after-sales services.
Their technology is onboard over 60,000 vehicles worldwide and they enable customers to manage applications remotely, update configurations and content on the train, and operate onboard passenger communication functions.
Job Summary:
The Customer Service Engineer will be highly familiarized with the company’s product range, helping support projects at the customer’s facilities across Western & Northern Europe. Main responsibilities include ensuring the systems are performing at the highest level of quality and assuring customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics, ICT or equivalent) with at least a first relevant experience.
· Expertise in the domain of system testing and troubleshooting; fundamental knowledge of Linux, software, hardware, and networking technology (TCP/IP, FTP, SSH, etc.) is required.
· Well organized with the ability to prioritize and work independently; work under pressure and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Clear verbal and written communication in English.
· Availability to travel frequently (between 25% and 50% of your time) within Western Europe primarily.
· Experience in the rail industry (operator, train builder, supplier, etc.) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Provide technical leadership and field support for upgrade-, retrofit-, and warranty projects.
· Be the primary line of communication with client.
· Ensure that our After Sales Projects and Service Level Agreements are developed and delivered to meet our company’s quality and cost standards and contract requirements.
· Translate customer enquiries to the different departments of our organization.
· Create, perform, and report on on-site test procedures, including full-function testing of the system, on vehicles either at the train builder’s facility or end customer’s location, in the presence of the client and/or inspectors.
· Train our customers on how to use our on-board and wayside software.
