Facility and Environment, Health & Safety Manager

CellCarta (former HistoGeneX)is a fast growing company specialized in cancer research and tissue characterization. We offer our services on a global scale through our laboratories in Europe (Antwerp, Belgium), the USA (Chicago) and China (Jining).

We support pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in the research and development of innovative new medicines for cancer treatment.

CellCarta is currently recruiting a motivated Facility & EHS Manager in order to support further expansion of the company.

The Facility & EHS Managerworks as a member of the Corporate Facility Organization, to ensure the effective functioning of the CellCarta facilities in Antwerp and to provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees and their activities by using the best business practices to manage resources, services and processes to meet the needs of the company. And to guarantee compliance with legal requirements related to facility, environment, health and safety.

You are responsible for the daily facility and EHS management for the site in Antwerp. You are the 1st point of contact for facility and EHS management for the internal departments and management and for the external suppliers and partners. You are responsible for the management and maintenance of the buildings and utilities in order to ensure optimal reliability for the activities.

Your Responsibilities as Facility Manager

The accountabilities of this function are, but not limited to:

  • Ensure that the facility remains in an appropriate state to support the business processes of CellCarta
  • Ensure that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards
  • Ensure that facility systems such as HVAC, backup generator, access control, temperature monitoring are maintained according to specifications and that maintenance is documented
  • Ensure maintenance contracts are in place for facility systems
  • Implement and maintain waste management and cleaning procedures that are in line with quality standard requirements and local regulations
  • Act in line of the operational needs of the site
  • Act as contact with facility system vendors and maintain good professional relations with these vendors
  • Act as an internal contact for all facility related questions and requests
  • Manage the building control systems in collaboration with the facility system vendors
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences
  • Coordinate Business Continuity Plan
  • Manage and coach technical facility staff and supervise external contractors
  • Assist in the follow-up of KPI’s
  • You report to the Director Global Facility & EHS

Your Responsibilities as EHS Manager

The accountabilities of this function are, but not limited to:

  • Head of Internal Prevention Service
  • Ensure compliance with legal and accreditation (ISO15189:2012 & CAP) requirements in regards to environment, health and safety
  • Integrate environment, health and safety policies and procedures in the quality management system
  • Follow-up of implementation of these policies in the workplace
  • Detect, analyze and evaluate environmental, health and safety risks and formulate proposals for risk mitigation
  • Perform EHS training, including Emergency Action Plan drills, New-Hire Orientation and Specialized training such as Ergonomics, First Aid, BBP, PPE, etc.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate external Occupational Health services
  • Work with the staff to ensure safety standards are met
  • Inform employees to increase safety awareness
  • Prevention advisor - Secretary of the Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work (CPPW)
  • Assist in the follow-up of KPI’s
  • You report to the Director Global Facility & EHS

Profile

  • Experience in construction, maintenance and all facets of facility operation
  • Diploma of prevention advisor, minimum level 2, with preferably 3 years of experience in a laboratory or production environment
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of project management
  • Advanced knowledge, orally and in writing of English, knowledge of Dutch and French is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Dynamic personality, a true team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good documentation skills (accurate, attention to details)
  • Experience related to drawing packages (e.g. AutoCad 2D) is an advantage
  • Flexible in the field of working hours
