Our customer, S-Biomedic, is a biotech leader in the skin microbiome and a company of Beiersdorf AG. For the formulation team dedicated to the discovery and development of novel probiotic cosmetic formulations in the skincare industry in their lab in VIB Ghent, we are looking for a:

JUNIOR FORMULATION SCIENTIST – Skin Microbiome

You will focus on scientific projects and activities related to the formulation of novel topical probiotic cosmetics. You will also l collaborate closely with the Scientific Department working on projects such as fermentation, testing and stability of probiotic active ingredients.

Amongst your tasks and responsibilities, we highlight:

• Design and produce topical formulations in collaboration with our corporate partner Beiersdorf.
• Optimize batch production to ensure stability and quality.
• Maintain, characterize, and formulate live probiotic ingredients.
• Conduct ingredients stability and compatibility studies.
• Manage and maintain raw material inventory.
• Accurately document all work in lab notebooks.
• Collaborate with research and marketing teams to develop and adapt formulations.
• Prepare and review standard operating procedures, internal and external protocols and reports.
• Draft technology transfer documentation as well as documentation intended to support intellectual property.
• Prepare and communicate the results to the management and marketing teams.
• Perform general lab duties such as maintaining the lab equipment and compliance with internal QC regulations.
• Collaborate on research projects with CROs for technology transfers.

Your background and capabilities:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry (preferred), biotechnology, pharmacy or biological sciences.
• Experience in formulating skincare, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical products for topical application is e highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and mindset, you enjoy looking into data.
• An eye for detail and very strong organization & planning skills.
• Good MS skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
