We are looking for a Legal Counsel for astara Western Europe!

astara Western Europe NV is part of the Spanish astara Group, an international and innovative company specialized in open mobility solutions.

The automotive landscape is currently in full transition due to digitalization, electrification and new forms of mobility. astara has been working to implement its own distribution and mobility ecosystem to respond to today’s challenges, such as achieving more sustainable and energy-efficient mobility and better digitalization. astara will offer a whole range of products and services focused on mobility such as (in addition to classic ownership) subscription packages, B2C and sales through new channels; all supported by a digital platform that allows interaction with customers through the different steps in the customer journey.

Within the distribution section, astara Western Europe is an importer of several brands of passenger cars and light trucks. Currently, the portfolio includes Hyundai (Belux) - Suzuki (Belux) - Maxus (Belux/DE) - SsangYong (Benelux/DE) - MG (Belux) - Isuzu (Benelux/PL/DE/CZ/SLO/AUS) - Silence (Belux/DE) - Microlino (DE), Mitsubishi (PL) and Nissan (PL).

Astara Western Europe is currently looking for a solo legal counsel to strengthen its team in Kontich.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• As a Legal Counsel you will be responsible for all legal matters within the global organization, reporting to astara Western Europe and to the Chief Legal Officer of the holding company, Astara Mobility S.L.
• Providing legal advice to the business in a variety of legal matters in an international environment;
• Negotiating, drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, among others service agreements, sales and purchase agreements, finance agreements, general terms and conditions and intra-group agreements (loan agreements, transfer pricing agreements);
• Follow up of new legislation which can have an impact on the business;
• Follow up on the evolution of block exemption regulation;
• GDPR issues;
• Compliance issues;
• Management and further development of the legal database (templates, contract management…);
• Assisting in corporate housekeeping activities and other legal financial obligations for astara Western Europe and its affiliates;
• Handling and following-up litigations with external lawyers;
• Select and supervise local law firms
• Raising legal awareness and ensuring that the business is fully aware of its contractual obligations and the commercial impact of their actions.

Profile

• You have 8 to 10 years of working experience in an internationally oriented law firm or as an in-house counsel in a multinational company, preferably in a similar industry
• You have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and other legal documents.
• You are a strong communicator.
• You have commercial awareness and good interpersonal skills.
• You are willing to work in an international environment, and willing to travel (Europe)
• You are pragmatic and you are able to offer business-oriented solutions.
• You are able to translate complex legal matters in business terms and to identify potential risks.
• You have an excellent command of Dutch and English.
