We are looking for Operating system deployment and update expert to work on-site for Brussel`s office of European Union.

• 
  Excellent knowledge of Linux.
• Good troubleshooting skills, coupled with a good understanding of an information system environment as a whole, with the ability to provide information and guidance to external and internal service providers (e.g. DIGIT).
• Good understanding of network infrastructure, such as firewalls, load-balancers and reverse[1]proxies. The contractor will not be asked to manage these, but should possess an understanding of their roles and relationships in the big picture.
• Good understanding of IT security and familiarity with security-related tools, concepts and industry best practices. Adherence to secure working methods is a must.
• Good knowledge of version control, specifically Git.
• Experience from GitLab (package repositories and pipelines)
• Shell scripting (GNU Bash).
• Configuration management with Ansible
• Issue tracking (Jira)
• Experience from software build tools (Maven, Ant).
• Good understanding of SQL queries, updates and deletions.
• RDBMS (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB – experience with Oracle in particular is considered an asset).
• Experience from AWS (particularly AWS Systems Manager, Workspaces and EC2 are considered strong assets).
• Understanding of Java and the JVM. We particularly value experience form tuning the JVM’s memory and garbage collection parameters.
• JEE and knowledge of Java Application Servers (preferably WebLogic or Tomcat, but other Application Servers, such as JBoss or Wildfly could be considered as assets).
• Experience from monitoring of applications and infrastructure, in particular using Splunk or Dynatrace.
• Good knowledge of ITIL methodology.
• Good knowledge of English (at least B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)). Ability to participate in meetings conducted in English, ease of communication.
• Ability to communicate over email, through MS Teams and by opening tickets to DIGIT, colleagues within DG CLIMA, and external developers and organisations (AWS).
• Team worker, able to take initiative and work on their own as needed.
• Ability to improve existing solutions, combined with resilience to work with legacy systems.
• Capability of integrating in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability, can do attitude. Initiative to propose improvements, flexibility and willingness to compromise.
• Ability to draft clear documentation.
• Contribute to the overall evolution of the position and team activities.

• Experience using ServiceNow or other similar ITSM tools
• Experience using AWS CloudWatch
• Experience from using CI/CD tools, such as Bamboo, Sonatype Nexus or Jenkins
• Experience of DB upgrades/migrations using Liquibase
• Scripting languages such as Python, NodeJS and PowerShell
• Additional configuration management tools, e.g. Chef or Puppet
• Infrastructure as Code, Terraform in particular
• DB clients, such as SQL Developer or sqlplus
• Kubernetes, Helm
