Purpose
The Manager of Main Production manages all Hight-Throughput manufacturing activities for IDT’s European production in Leuven, Belgium. The Manager of Main Production is accountable for the performance and the results of the manufacturing teams, together with the assistant managers, and adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
Responsibilities :
Oversee and organize the daily workflow and the daily operations of the Main Production group with the assistance of Assistant Managers.
Ensure that all finished product is delivered to the shipping department on time.
Oversee and perform, if necessary, all responsibilities of a Technician II, III and Assistant Manager.
Ensure the Main Production staff is trained to troubleshoot and correct problems that may arise throughout the process, to use new equipment and software, and on new and revised work instructions.
Interfacing with other critical operations department including: Facilities & Engineering/Maintenance, Customer Service, Shipping, Information Services, Order Entry, Order Tracking, Quality Assurance, Large Scale, Purifications and Analytical.
Assist the Director of Manufacturing in the development of new processes, the implementation of new equipment, and the functional layout planning for future expansion projects.
Ensure that all work instructions, logs and process flows are kept up to date pertaining to processes, and initiate creation of additional documents when necessary.
Document any process deviations or non-conformances appropriately.
Interpret QC results and make failure determination. Ensure follow up when failures warrant further investigation.
Ensure that all required checklists are being utilized and perform verification for others when necessary.
Investigate and troubleshoot issues reported by Customer Service regarding past oligo shipments.
Provide formal feedback annual performance review for direct reports and assists Assist assistant managers in the annual performance process for members of Main Production staff. Write and administer Annual Performance Evaluations for direct reports. Report salary changes and promotions to the appropriate Human Resources and Finance staff in a timely manner.
Ensure the training of new Production Scientists is organized.
Organize the cross training of Main Production staff in other departments.
Perform approval of time off requests for direct reports.
Oversee the creation and maintain the weekly shift schedule for the Main Production staff.
Have Main Production meetings for daytime and overnight group members on a regular schedule.
Have 1 on 1 meetings with Main Assistant Managers
Report biweekly on happenings in the department and give updates on assignments to the Director of Manufacturing.
Perform assignments as designated by Higher Management.
Handle and document employee concerns / issues and report them to the Director of Manufacturing if needed.
Interview and hire new employees when necessary.
Determine and execute any disciplinary actions as such actions and evidence warrants.
Be aware of and contribute to IDT’s policy for quality and environmental management by adhering to the requirements of the ISO 9001, 13485 and 14001 standards, procedures and work instructions.
Contribute to the implementation and improvement of quality (QMS) and environmental management systems (EMS) by: being aware of and reporting changes that may affect QMS and EMS related aspects, actions and objectives of the relevant department, assist in related actions and management programs as required
Qualifications
Min. 3 years of successful experience in manufacturing, preferably related to oligonucleotides.
Bachelor or Master in Science or equivalent experience required
Min. 2 years of experience in a people leader role
Proficiency in a variety of PC Software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required, including Microsoft Teams.
Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus
Excellent leadership skills
Ability to encourage and facilitate cooperation and teamwork
Adaptability to perform under stress
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both written and verbal
Adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to the other without losing composure
Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers
