How You’ll Make a Difference

You will lead the regional development and growth of mutually beneficial relationships to progress the project management profession and consumer relationships aligned with the strategic plan of the Institute in the Sub-Saharan Africa region.You will also drive market penetration aligned to PMI’s objectives and initiatives by collaborating across regions to accelerate growth, and stakeholder engagement and advance the profession.

Key Responsibilities

• Build an effective strategy with the PMI strategy team
• Develop executive relationships with targeted companies in assigned industry and segment space at C -Suite level
• Drive the primary value metrics
• In conjunction with Corporate Development, identify acquisition and partnership opportunities
• Provide executive oversight ensuring integration, coordination and development with Institute organization and operations strategy. Assure alignment with budget requirements. Monitor the overall environment, review, and recommend adjustments to achieve business objectives
• Provide direction and drive regional strategies, as well as related planning and successful execution and integration, of PMI’s global chapters as a high value asset for support practitioner career development, membership and community based on sound market and business intelligence, forecasting, and business rationale. Ensure integration and understanding across the organization as well as alignment with strategic direction and initiatives
• Provide leadership to develop and manage programs that deliver appropriate value based on identified needs. Build unified plans to increase market penetration including but not limited to identifying opportunities for cultivating and strengthening relationships with volunteer leaders, chapter members, credential holders, and other partners.
• Leverage and protect the PMI brand and ensure governance accountability reporting by PMI Chapters annually.
• What you’ll bring to the role
• The ideal candidate must have a track record of success of running account teams and a minimum of 15 years of experience in roles with a heavy focus on advocacy, account planning and management, relationship building, customer relationship, leadership, and coaching. It will be important to develop and maintain detailed knowledge of PMI strategy, current and emerging solution capabilities and strategic direction for advocacy efforts and team capabilities
• Bachelor’s degree in a field such as Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Political Science or equivalent. Master’s degree in Business Administration is a plus
• Minimum of 5+ years of Profit and Loss Management Experience required
• Entity leadership within a global corporate structure advantageous
• Successful advocacy with governments, and corporations and experience with complex negotiations and long cycle sales.
• Ability and willingness to become thoroughly familiar with project management, the profession, and PMI to build credibility and respect with customers.
• A hands-on leader with a high-capacity to lead and inspire in an entrepreneurial manner and mind-set – being resourceful, energetic, and self-motivated.
• Accomplished public speaker with senior level global audiences ranging from the large stage to select roundtable venues in premier and official settings.
• Exceptional ability to network, lead, communicate and negotiate.
• Exceptional ability to think and present from an objective viewpoint, proactively engage, and facilitate discussions with broad range of stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to quickly zero in on root-cause for fast and efficient problem solving.
• Unquestionable integrity and high ethical standards.
• Decisive with a “big picture” perspective.
• Prioritizes high-value initiatives and ensures teams are focused on the areas with the highest return on financial, time, and people investment.
• Thrives in nimble environments; has a strong work ethic and rolls up their sleeves to help drive results as well as empower others to succeed. Demonstrates and encourages a strong sense of accountability
• Understand and be able to effectively communicate PMI’s global strategy; regional development plans; key initiatives; and overall business operations. Maintain awareness of the broad range of offerings, activities, and initiatives within the global organization to effectively engage with stakeholders and promote the Institute to stakeholders.
• Ability to travel globally and locally consistently up-to 40% of the time.
