Job Description

Aon’s Practice Group Financial Institutions & Professional Services provides risk advisory and insurance services to prestigious financial institutions and professional service firm clients. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, conscientious, and career-minded individual to lead our client service team.
The Practice Leader role for Belgium entails direct client accountability, as well as a responsibility as Senior Manager of a team of Insurance Brokers responsible for the broking and placement of Financial Lines insurance solutions, including but not limited to D&O/Management Liability Insurance, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Cyber Liability Insurance, etc.. The Practice Leader must manage and lead team members and ensure clients’ needs are promptly and accurately met.

Your impact as a Practice Leader and Senior Manager
  • Delivery of business results as well as seeking opportunities across other solution lines to increase Aon penetration with Financial Institutions and Professional Service firm clients.
  • Senior client owner for a portfolio of Financial Institution and Professional Services customers, accountable for leading and delivering distinctive client experiences.
  • Managing and overseeing a team of brokers who assist in providing insurance broking and related advisory services for the insurance needs of Financial Institutions and Professional Service firm clients, including Financial Lines insurance product line responsibility for commercial customers.
  • Supporting training and development needs of the team around Financial Lines insurance solutions, as well as best practices in respect of client service delivery.
  • Bringing together all key collaborators at Aon and the Client for deep strategy and execution of our commitments and plans.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Aon’s resources and capabilities. Effectively leverage the Aon network to achieve client risk objectives. Conducts needs assessment of client’s business objectives and coordinates Aon’s Resources to execute client’s needs.
  • Maintenance of senior level underwriting relationships; oversight of all product line marketing and market relationships for team.
  • Drive business development within the practice and the exploration of new and evolving risks and potential risk transfer and risk financing solutions.
  • Build and deliver on Aon’s core priorities such as growth lever plans, resource management, governance and market/broking engagement.
  • Overseeing negotiations with underwriters on difficult and/or complex renewals/new business opportunities. Negotiate best possible price and capacity using knowledge, expertise, and market presence for desired cover.
  • Defining and overseeing the operation of insurance schemes and the management of the schemes databases.
  • Stay current on all relevant industry data and be pro-active in introducing innovative ideas to help clients contemplate risk management with fresh perspective.

Skills and experience that will drive success
  • Master degree in Law or Economics and over 10 years of relevant experience in the Insurance/Banking Industry or Consulting.
  • Ability to oversee and drive growth strategy across a portfolio of clients
  • Understanding the strategic positioning of the client to be able to match to Aon capabilities and solutions and think holistically across the business.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Financial Lines insurance solutions and of the FI and Professional Services industry, allowing the development of deep relationships with clients and the aptitude to think strategically across accounts and sub-sectors.
  • Experience leading teams and providing direction, support and guidance to the broking and account teams.
  • Support the development of colleagues - train and mentor others effectively.
  • Financial acumen: Understands the client’s financials and strategy and adept in discussing this with the client and internal teams.
  • Profound analytical capacity and an excellent advisor.
  • Eloquent, both verbally and written, personable and able to effectively and confidently present to (prospective) customers and other audiences.
  • Enthusiastic, creative thinker and sound judgement.
  • Excellent people skills with the propensity to work constructively with others under pressure and to resolve conflict in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and control workflow deadlines, manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and be flexible.
  • Written and oral business proficiency in Dutch, French and English
