Job Purpose and Impact

The Process/Separations Specialist will carry out our pilot plant activities and studies in order to develop new and current projects and produce prototypes while following Cargill’s food safety and environmental, health and safety procedures and policies. We seek a professional to be a key member of our research and development team by taking operational responsibility of all pilot plant.

Key Accountabilities
  • Run day-t-day activities the pilot plant, equipment and utilities.
  • Perform pilot plant trials on development projects and on customer requests. Perform basic analytical and chemical lab analyses on prototypes or raw materials and record results.
  • Coordinate and conduct customer visits to the pilot plant, based on Cargill procedures.
  • Apply thorough knowledge (in Separation techniques) to develop trials design, process parameters and field set up/configuration based on customer requests and projects.
  • Visit external production lines for product trials when needed. Organize, observe, and follow up the production trials on the large scale production at external partners and support on processing.
  • Evaluate and report the results of pilot plant trials on development projects.
  • Ensure pilot plant assets portfolio is maintained and propose improvements and new technologies.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge in analytical methods (chemical and physical methods).
  • Experience with experimental design, data analysis and management.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience.
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or food engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of related work experience is an advantage.
  • Experience of working in plant or pilot plant environment.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge in separation techniques: centrifugation, decantation, chromatography etc.
  • Experience collaborating across functional areas and outstanding customer focus.
