Our Purchasing Department is looking for a Procurement Buyer to join and strengthen the Belgian team.

The position will be based in Marche-les-Dames, with frequent travel to the Belgian sites (Corbais, Jemelle and Hermalle).

Your Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Perform and follow up on medium value purchases (<100’000 €) for the Belgian factories and offices
  • Clarify the requirements of the buyers
  • Select and negotiate with suppliers and execute the supplier management
  • Determine terms and conditions of order sheets
  • Provide support to procurement and category managers
  • Support procurement reduction through regular analysis of procurement activities
  • Research existing and new potential suppliers
  • Carry out quotation (RfQ’s) and formal price requests
  • Facilitate clarification of technical issues between internal stakeholders and suppliers and follow-up evolutions.
  • Proactively track purchase orders to obtain supplier confirmations and measure performance according to Group Procurement Guidelines
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative feedback to Analysts, Sourcing and Category Managers on medium value recurring purchases and opportunities for standardization and automation.
  • Lead projects to improve the purchasing process and/or increase the value of the service to internal customers.

As a Junior Procurement Buyer, you will be reporting to the Operational Procurement Manager Belgium. Your main tasks will be:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Commercial or Business Engineering,
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience,
  • Having negotiation skills, persuasive and influential attitude,
  • Technology aptitude, SAP knowledge is a plus,
  • Analytical, curious and well organized,
  • A self-starter, work in autonomy while collaborating with all levels of staff within Lhoist,
  • Balanced and mature team player (service oriented and capable of operating in an informal network of colleagues),
  • Good communication and presentation skills (written, verbal, listening, influencing, coaching),
  • Comfortable with social interactions,
  • Committed to apply a “safety first” attitude,
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
