Whereas the main Barco divisions focus on the current product roadmaps, Barco Labs is conducting research into radically new technologies that could lead to completely new Barco products in the future. One of Barco Labs’ proof-of-concepts shows interesting market potential and we are currently scaling up the team to transform our exciting proof-of-concept into a real product.

As Product Owner for new healthcare solutions, you will be responsible for steering the R&D development team (local and remote) towards the right choices for maximizing the value delivered to our customers. In this role, it is important to build an in-depth knowledge of the market needs in order to correctly manage a versatile software product backlog. You will work closely together with product management, architect and technical teams and have contacts with end users to understand their requirements and clinical workflows. As Product Owner, you are instrumental in the successful launch of the new product. You are a social team player working together with a local and optional remote engineering team in achieving those goals.

Your key responsibilities

• You take accountability to maximize the value of new software service solutions throughout team collaboration
• You create and update the product backlog in terms of priority setting and proper level of detail, with the right balance between delivering customer value and technical improvements
• You ensure that the backlog items are refined, so that the different involved scrum teams understand the additional business value
• You provide and update early UX/UI for software solutions so these are validated with end users in advance
• You support product management in documenting product requirements and instructions for use
• You closely work together with regulatory team members in order to ensure all necessary tasks related to medical compliance are executed on time (e.g. requirements met etc.)
• You represent the customer needs in the whole customer journey in the different agile meetings (planning, standups, retrospectives...)
• You collaborate with the involved development teams and product management to achieve this

Your profile

• You hold a higher degree combined with a minimum of 2 years professional product owner or product manager experience, ideally in a product-driven organization where you are working on the intersection of product & software
• You have an in-depth understanding of agile and lean processes for software development
• Knowledge of product development in a medical context is a must, with at least some experience in this field
• You are tech savvy, passionate about your product and can take people along in the product vision
• You are confident in prioritization and articulating the value for the customer
• You have an eye for detail and are a clear communicator (in written & spoken English)
• You are willing to travel occasionally
