A leading international organization in the steel and mining industry is seeking an experienced Project Manager Buildings to join an ambitious and dynamic project team in Ghent. This company is dedicated to developing sustainable and innovative solutions, focusing on carbon neutrality and advanced manufacturing techniques. The organization operates across multiple countries, playing a key role in global industrial transformation.

As Project Manager Buildings, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of new building infrastructures related to a large-scale industrial project. You will ensure timely delivery, budget adherence, and effective stakeholder coordination throughout the project lifecycle. The scope includes multiple infrastructures such as grid intake stations, social buildings, warehouses, workshops, steelmaking plant buildings, and various utility buildings (e.g., pump rooms, substations).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the project scope related to new building infrastructures (>80M EUR).
• Collaborate closely with EPCM and permitting partners to review schedules, formulate civil scopes, and enforce standardization.
• Ensure integration and validate brownfield adaptations as necessary.
• Review and approve project documents, drawings, and change requests.
• Conduct periodic internal reviews and coordinate with stakeholders to address project gaps.
• Proactively escalate governance issues and propose solutions for timely resolution.
• Drive continuous process improvements by applying lessons learned and identifying new opportunities.
• Support and report to the SMP project delivery lead of the Green Primary project.

Profile

Technical Skills

• Experience working with EPCM or EPC companies.
• Strong project management expertise.
• Goal-oriented, results-driven, and proactive leadership skills.
• Effective communication skills, particularly in engaging senior executives and stakeholders.
• Proven people management capabilities.

Job Experience & Other Skills

• 5 to 15+ years of experience as a Project Manager in a similar role (medior/senior level).
• Relevant experience in any of the following domains:
• KB Attachment 6 (Belgian legislation on fire safety by design).
• EPB (Belgian legislation on energy measures).
• Permitting procedures (OMV) in Flanders.
• Additional experience in the mining or metal sector is a plus.
• Professional certification in PMI or Prince2 is an advantage.

Education

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical education.

Language Skills

• Project language: English.
• Dutch language proficiency is a prerequisite.

Other Requirements

• Primary work location: Ghent, Belgium.
• Regular travel to Spain or other European locations (Madrid, Bilbao).
