The successful candidate will be assigned to the Department of Imaging and Pathology in the Radiology, Translational MRI research group led by Prof. Stefan Sunaert. This research group is recognized worldwide for its expertise in advanced MR imaging of the brain.
For the further expansion of our research group activities in the field of Cancer and Cognition, we are looking for a Research Manager who will be responsible for acquiring new funding, starting up new research projects, coordinating and executing existing and new research, and managing and supervising staff.

Functie

Initiate, acquire, and coordinate various research projects related to neuroimaging and cancer-related cognitive decline
  • Initiating and developing new research projects and establish multidisciplinary, national, and international collaborations
  • Acquire funding (internal and external) to ensure the sustainability of research activities
  • Coordinate national and international research projects
  • Preparation of project plans with specifications regarding time, personnel, and budget
  • Supervising and monitoring project resources and financial planning
  • Report results

Attract, train and supervise researchers (PhD, Master students, visiting scholars)
  • Supervise, coach and evaluate PhD students, and scientific collaborators
Contribute to the scientific impact of the research lines of the department through strong and frequent publications in international scientific journals
  • Build and maintain international and national networks relevant to the research domain
  • Disseminate research findings and expertise

Profiel

  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, preferably with prior training in Engineering Sciences or Physics
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral experience
  • In-depth technical expertise in advanced biomedical imaging and analysis techniques
  • Expertise in the domain of cancer-related neurocognitive effects
  • Excellent publication record in leading international peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in coordinating multi-center, multidisciplinary, and international projects
  • Proven leadership in managing a team and mentoring PhD and Master students
  • Experience with applications for Ethical Committees
  • Preferably acquainted with the KU Leuven context
  • Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English
  • Efficient, proactive, and results-oriented
  • A team player capable of working independently
