Jobinhalt

RETOPEA is an international H2020 research project funded by the European Commission to promote religious toleration and peace, particularly among youth. In this project we explored the different ways in which religious coexistence was thought of and achieved in different historical environments and how religious plurality in past and present is represented in different media context today. The premise of the project is that insight into historical religious peace-making offers a prism for interpreting contemporary issues related to religious diversity, including the use of the public space. The project promotes active and reflective learning from history. It uses the insights gained from the research to inform thinking about present-day peaceful religious coexistence and to develop innovative tools for education among a diverse youth population in formal as well as informal educational settings. In this perspective we are looking for a Project Coordinator (Assistant to the Project Leader) for the remaining time of the project (1 September 2021 – 30 September 2022)
Responsibilities
  • Together with the Project Leader you keep an overview of the project’s progress
  • You monitor the use of project resources together with the Project Leader, Principal Investigators of partner institutions and staff members of KU Leuven Research and Development
  • You follow up and guide the submission of project deliverables in collaboration with the leads of the project’s work packages
  • You facilitate the exchange of information between the various work packages and the principal investigators of the partner institutions. This exchange takes place via e-mail, ad hoc video conferences and regular steering committee meetings
  • You follow up and support the communication of the project with the Research Executive Agency of the European Commission via its online portal; you inform principal investigators and staff members of partner institutions on the procedures of the H2020 reporting procedures and monitor that they supply correct data and information
  • You take the lead in drafting intermediary and final reporting documents. You collect and coordinate the input from Principal Investigators and the financial cells at various partner institutions
  • You assist the PL and other collaborators in organizing workshops and educational initiatives as well as in developing the project’s policy recommendations
Profile
  • You have a MA or PhD in History, Religious Studies or similar
  • You are communicative, fluent in English and comfortable with interacting via online tools with a diverse and international team of project members based throughout Europe
  • You are good at planning well in advance; you tackle potential issues proactively
  • You can work towards submission deadlines of project reports and deliverables (including financial reports)
  • You are familiar or are interested in familiarizing yourself with the reporting procedures of European Framework Programs (Horizon 2020)
  • You have both an eye for detail as well as a good understanding of the bigger picture
Offer
Part-time employment (30 per cent) as project coordinator 1 September 2021 – 30 September 2022 in a stimulating international environment at KU Leuven
