Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Application Specialist Specialized Nutrition will align and innovate by exploring, developing and implementing new and existing products. In this position, you will provide technical expertise to new product development in specialized nutrition category for product line growth and technology/process development for the creation of new capabilities. This position identifies and implements technical solutions against business goals.

Key Accountabilities
  • Identify product growth and new product opportunities, modifying plans to meet opportunities.
  • Stay current with literature and analytical advancements and works with independently on daily tasks.
  • Provide technical perspective in specialized nutrition product development and improvement and regulatory oversight.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (customer facing technical team, core R&D, regulatory, marketing, insights).
  • Partner with business management, marketing partners and customer facing teams to identify customer needs and translate these into new product development opportunities.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in an applied food research environment
  • Experience working successfully in a matrixed organization
  • Prior experience in project management
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience in specialized nutrition
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters, PhD in food chemistry, food technology, chemistry, human or medical nutrition or other related field.
  • 8+ years of related work experience in human or medical nutrition or other related field.
  • Understanding of production technologies used for final applications in specialized nutrition category
  • Detailed knowledge about ingredient categories that are relevant for specialized nutrition category
  • Understanding of food and other regulatory requirements relevant to category focus area.
  • Experience in project management for good outcomes
  • Organized, structured, energetic, excellent influencing skills.
  • Provide expert thought leadership in Specialized Nutrition and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems.
