Foodpairing offers an AI platform for food product development to develop better products faster. This platform is also known as CFI (Consumer Flavor Intelligence) and is used by some of the major food companies in the world.


Foodpairing seeks a Senior Software Engineer with a keen interest in data. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be actively involved in the improvement and development of our internal cloud-based data platform.


This includes software development, algorithm development and translating high-level requirements into technical specifications.


You will play a strategic role in the innovation, research, and development of Foodpairing’s technology for Consumer Flavor Intelligence (CFI). This role will be based in our Ghent office and you will work in a multidisciplinary team with data scientists, chefs, food scientists, and data engineers using some of the newest machine learning technologies to generate successful new food products

Your skills and experience

  • You have a Masters degree (Engineering, Physics, Informatics, Computer Sciences,...) with 4+ years of experience in an industry setting,

  • You have experience delivering multiple software engineering projects
    (implementation, testing & deployment),
  • You can translate business requirements into technical specifications,

  • The following stack fits you like a glove: Python & SQL/document databases (Mongo, Firestore..).

  • Experience with a variety of API standards (REST, GPRC),

  • You have experience with algorithm development,

  • You have worked with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure or similar),

  • You are willing to learn more about data engineering (we provide training!).

Bonus points for:

  • Cloud infrastructure tooling: Terraform, Pulumi or similar cloud orchestration tools.

  • Data engineering components: Airflow, Apache beam, BigQuery, DBT or similar.

  • Experience with the JVM based languages: Kotlin or Java
