Hasa Optix is a Brussels based medical device company founded in 2016. The Company has brought to market innovative solutions for ophthalmic surgery. The company recently welcomed as a shareholder and partner Rayner, a CVC capital partners company and the leading UK ophthalmic surgery company.

Our mission is to develop the solutions that will offer all stakeholders involved in ophthalmic surgery sustainable solutions contributing to a better cost-controlled work environment foran increased quality of care.

At Hasa Optix, we are crew members with entrepreneurial mindsets. We believe in decentralized management in which responsibilities and decision-making powers are equally distributed throughout self-organizing teams rather than being vested in a classic management hierarchy.

We are a fast-growing company with a truly international scope with a base team of 7 people + 2 externals based in Brussels. We are looking for a solid Sustainability Manager to lead all our recycling offer.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will have the entire responsibility of leading our company to build its “cradle to cradle recycling offer”. Building a virtuous circle giving a second life to the metal our instruments are made of has been a priority for Hasa Optix since its inception.

Therefore, you will be in charge of developing, implementing and monitoring our “cradle to cradle excellence program” to develop a practical and economically feasible take-back and logistics route for our surgical instruments. This project is aiming at closing the loop for a strongly increasing material stream in the medical sector to minimize the use of primary resources.

You will report directly to the Managing Director of the company and collaborate with our 20+ worldwide distributors and with the Sustainability teams of our UK partner Rayner. You will also manage the relationship with our external service providers (waste management companies, universities, etc.).

What will you do?

  • Build HASA “cradle to cradle recycling offer” to allow clinics customers to have their surgical instruments given a second life and Hasa to complete its circular economy commitment
  • Interact with international distributors and their customers (surgeons and hospitals) to understand their needs and create the actions to support their efforts in developing local recycling initiatives.
  • Manage the relationship with our external teams (Consultants, waste management companies, universities, etc. ).

Requirements

Sounds like something for you? You would be a great fit if you have:

  • An Entrepreneurial spirit, can-do attitude, autonomous, solution-oriented, and strong emotional intelligence
  • A 2-to-3-year experience in a similar role
  • A strong motivation for sustainability solutions and/or a proven track record in that field
  • Are data-driven and analytical, highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication, analytic and interpersonal skills: you will be communicating intensively with distributors as well as other stakeholders
  • Ability to manage projects and timelines, following up with key stakeholders
  • Languages: Business English (verbal and written) + other European languages are a plus
  • Experience in medical device or ophthalmology is an asset
  • Motivation to join a dynamic medical device early stage growing small team
