We are seeking to appoint

A System Engineer

Occupational category1: 2.21 ICT Assistant

(Full-time post – 37h30/week )

The European Schools are an intergovernmental organization providing a multilingual and

multicultural education. There are currently thirteen schools in six countries with around 28,750

pupils on roll. The Office of the Secretary-General (OSG) is the central office responsible for

managing the European Schools system.

Description of the function

Under the direction of the Head of the ICT Unit and the supervision of the Head of the System cell, the

function of the System engineer will consist of assisting them to achieve several objectives in the

European Schools and at the OSG in the following categories:
  • Management, administration and development of the System infrastructure, Security infrastructure,
Datacenters, Cloud infrastructure and Network infrastructure of the European Schools

  • Technical expertise for ICT related projects
Main Duties:
  • Management of the system infrastructure of the European Schools:
o Windows Server, Active Directory, PowerShell, GPO, Hyper-V, DFS, Exchange, System

Center, Webservers (IIS and HAPROXY), Backup and other relevant system

administration

  • Assistance in the planning, driving projects from the beginning till the end, documentation preparation
for projects, implementation and support of new hardware architecture and software solutions needed

for internal usage.

  • Management of the Network infrastructure of the European Schools:
o OSG and Schools Admin network administration, Firewall Management and

Administration

  • Management of the cloud infrastructure of the European Schools:
o MS Azure, M365, Intune, Cloud Security

o Administration of All the M365, MS Azure

o Development, management, and monitoring of cloud security.

  • Management of the security’s infrastructure of the European Schools:
o Development of solutions and scripts to improve central monitoring and management

facilities (central alerting, central logging, central security policy implementation, etc.)

o Detection and analysis of security incidents, analysis of security logs

  • Management of the datacentres of the European Schools:
o Installation of the servers (hardware and software) and the network infrastructure

o Installation, configuration and Maintenance of Hyper-V host, clustering, and failover

management

o Daily management and support of the ICT infrastructure

o Management of the security aspects for ensuring a safe and reliable ICT environment
