CONTEXT

Within the Network Business Unit, the division Network Strategy, Innovation & Partnerships (NSP)is leading the long-term technological innovation and technological strategy.

Amongst others, NSP team plays a key role in the management of financial incentives related to innovative activities that are taking place internally and with external technology partners. NSP is also playing a central role in ensuring execution of the network strategy via management of the SP1 (Strategic Pillar 1 – Gigabit Networks) governance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This function aims at combining two roles.

You will have the possibility to touch upon the whole Proximus portfolio and all the core assets of the company, to build a 360° view on the innovative and R&D activities that are realized within Proximus and to get a deep understanding of the infrastructure supporting our whole business.

Management of financial incentives

Financial incentives consist mainly of tax withholding reduction for employees working on R&D projects, tax credits, IID (Innovation Income Deduction), patents and subsidies.

Getting these financial incentives require to identify R&D activities and to build the supporting technical & business justifications.

Next to the collaboration with all project leaders, you will also work closely with the Tax department for alignment on the financial aspects.

This role encompasses the following activities:

  • Build a complete overview of the existing R&D initiatives within Proximus
  • In collaboration with the Tax department, determine which projects from technical perspective could be interesting for innovation deduction.
  • Build full documentation of the technical part of the R&D projects (required justifications)
  • Support on potential subsidies files

Management of SP1 governance

In context of Proximus Strategic Framework, the 1st Strategic Priority (SP1) is managing leadership, operational and efficiency related investment in network assets of Proximus: mobile & fixed networks, backbone, data centre and service platforms. Managing these investments require strong follow-up of allocated resources and constant reprioritization across and within the Key Initiatives (KI) of SP1 to ensure the optimal usage of scarce resource (Capex, manpower) in line with approved long-term strategy.

To support SP1 governance, you will work in close collaboration with Key Initiatives Leads & Program Managers. Next to this, you will also work together with Investment Office, Strategy Delivery Office and Program Office to ensure smooth resolution of operational and prioritization issues.

This role encompasses the following recurring activities:

Monthly reporting

  • Collect KI KPI & prepare SP1 Dashboard
  • Review KI report (coaching KI when needed) & prepare SP1 summary
  • Review FIN actuals with FIN BP, collect rational of deviation, identify trend (vs. seasonal effects) and possible actions and prepare SP1 overview

Quarterly Business Review (QBR)

  • Support KI Program Managers in their memo preparation/update, gather best practice and ensure quality & consistency across SP1
  • Together with KI, review the requested resources, identify must-win projects, drivers of change and highlight possible trade-offs with business impact.

Forecast/Budget/5YPlan

  • Support preparation of SP1 Forecast by challenging KI with support of FIN Business Partners, by review underlying assumptions, by identify trends across KI and possible tradeoffs at SP level.
  • Support 5 years plan (5YP) preparation in close collaboration with KI Leads, SP1 Lead & Committee, Investment Office and NSP teams.

SP1 Office

  • Manage access to SP1 SharePoint & other shared spaces
  • Make the bridge with Investment Office, Strategy Delivery Office, capacity teams…
  • Reminder for deadlines, provide template, explain (SDO) guidelines…
  • Manage the day-to-day follow-up of SP1 and the different KI.

Backup of SP1 Lead

  • Build & keep a global view on SP1 to be progressively able toact as deputy of SP1 Lead in meetings when SP1 Lead is out of office, in case of double booking or as permanent delegate.

Profile

  • You have built technical expertise across your career and have 5-10 years of experience in the Telecom sector.
  • You have strong negotiations skills and have a broad network with good knowledge of Proximus organization, especially NBU.
  • You have strong presentation & writing skills enabling to summarize complex technical concepts in comprehensive documents that can be understood by non-technical audience.
  • You have an exhaustive view on Proximus architecture landscape.
  • You show leadership in leading multi-skill teams. You can work in an independent & proactive way and you can motivate & lead virtual teams and drive for consensus.
  • You have good interpersonal skills to discuss, clarify and explain complex matters to people with various levels of subject matter expertise and are able to convince your audience, up to the level of top management.
  • You can deal with ambiguity, incomplete information and rapid changes.
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch and English.
