The Opportunity
Leads and manages teams across the EAME region in payroll processes (Workday & 3rd party) and time tracking initiatives/operations for the company. Equips the team to identify and implement world class practices with a focus on continuous improvement, accurate and efficient processing and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Participates in the design and implementation of Caterpillar’s global payroll transformation to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Overseeing region-based teams responsible for the accuracy of payroll preparation and processing, payroll accounting and various special payments
Leading teams in responding to inquiries related to payroll and providing guidance on the prevailing laws governing payroll and income taxes, employee benefits, garnishments, reimbursement policies and other statutory pay and related entitlements.
Developing payroll procedures; controlling and supervising the preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll-related payments.
Skills:
Payroll Functionality: Knowledge of Workday and 3rd party payroll application and experience in a production environment to adequately deliver services to internal and external clients.
Payroll Management: Knowledge of payroll policy and methods; ability to use tools, techniques, and processes to manage employee payroll and benefits operations.
Payroll Administration: Knowledge of policies, operations and standards related to payroll; ability to establish, implement, and administer policies, procedures, and systems for confidentially calculating, preparing, and distributing payrolls.
Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Operational Functions: Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
Helping Employees Succeed: Understanding the importance of facilitating individual team member’s growth; ability to help team members to learn and develop continuously, gaining personal satisfaction from helping others develop their knowledge and capabilities.
Personnel Management: Knowledge of human resources and personnel management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward personnel at the workplace.
Auditing: Knowledge of the organization’s internal audit processes, practices, and methods; ability to perform audits to ensure organizational compliance.

Skills and Experience:
Candidates will have gained the following experience through previous roles:
Bachelor’s Degree or significant role relevant experience
Progressive years of experience within payroll, finance, accounting, and shared services experience which include team and transformation leadership.
Expert understanding of Workday Payroll Functionality: Knowledge of Workday’s payroll application and experience in a production environment to adequately deliver services to internal and external clients.
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Broad knowledge of one or more European payroll requirements
Strong project management skills
Experience of leading and supervising others
