For our compressor station of Zeebrugge ( see the map here ) we’re looking for an E&I Technician (m/f/x).

Fluxys is the independent operator of natural gas transmission, transit and storage infrastructure in Belgium. For natural gas to flow through a pipeline, sufficient pressure is required to overcome the loss caused by friction. This is the purpose of compressor stations.

Fluxys operates five compressor stations in Belgium, located on the main gas pipelines at intervals of 100 to 150 km. Compressing the natural gas gives it enough energy to continue on its way to end users in ideal conditions. The gas pressure is then reduced so that it can be transferred into a pipeline network at lower pressure or to the end user’s gas facility. The IZTC compressor and pressure-reducing station in Zeebrugge is connected to the subsea connector linking Belgium with Bacton in the UK. Fluxys operates the IZTC facilities under an Operations & Maintenance contract with Interconnector, a subsidiary of the Group.

Your respon­sibilities

  • Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance of instrumentation and electrical equipment in the process and safety facilities at the compressor station
  • You will regularly inspect the facilities
  • In case of malfunctions or faults, you will conduct an assessment and perform the appropriate repairs
  • You will help implement improvements to the existing facilities
  • You will prepare the relevant reports when performing your work
  • You may also be required to be on call, helping rectify faults to ensure continued efficient operation

About you

  • At least an A2 qualification in measurement and control technology, electricity, electronics, automation, computer science or equivalent experience
  • Ideally, initial experience in a similar position, preferably in an industrial process environment, but this is not necessary if you can demonstrate strong commitment and motivation
  • Critical thinking skills that take your problem-solving skills to the next level
  • A proactive attitude that enables you to function both in a team and independently
  • A very good command of Dutch and a good knowledge of English

Additionally, this role requires:
  • You are willing to work in a shift/on-call system
  • You live less than 30 minutes away from the IZTC compressor station in Zeebrugge
  • You have a category B driving licence
