Are you fascinated with innovative projects related to marine infrastructure which contribute to social, environmental, and economic sustainability? Are you willing to support to the success of our projects? Do you have the ability to strategically align the supply chain in order to find the optimum in quality, price and planning? We, within our challenging procurement department are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Category Buyer Civil Works for the DEME Group.

You will develop and implement sourcing strategies for harbor construction, dams and sea defenses, canal construction, revetment, quay wall construction and shore protection. Your responsibilities

  • You’ll take the lead in tender management, selecting suppliers as well as concluding, maintaining, and managing contracts, expenses and agreements.
  • You’ll develop and manage a network of reliable and stable suppliers.
  • You’ll also build strong internal partnerships with our operational departments and budget owners.
  • You know your way around contract lifecycle management: ensuring that contracts are executed correctly, monitoring performance and compliance and taking action when necessary.

Your profile

  • You hold a master’s degree in (civil) engineering, and/or applied economics business engineer, or equal by experience.
  • You’re a real talent in negotiating and steer each discussion towards the desired results.
  • Interest and affinity for technical subjects, willing to learn
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years relevant work experience
  • You’re fluent in English, Dutch is an asset.
  • You will work in the DEME HQ in Zwijndrecht, Belgium, and are prepared to travel when needed.
