We are looking for a Data Protection Coordinator for our Brussels office, who serves as a first line of support and internal point of contact to the company’s business units, and who will be responsible for all matters related to the processing of personal data. The role will provide essential support to the Data Protection Officer in the management and implementation of the company’s privacy framework.


Roles/Responsibilities


  • Handle and support requests from the DPO Support office and/or business units for guidance on processing of personal information
  • Provide direction to various business units (HR, Marketing, Digital, etc.) to ensure compliance with the company’s privacy framework & standards
  • Manage escalated data protection incidents, and provide support to the DPO in the management of such incidents
  • Review data processing agreements, and provide support to the business with privacy vendor assessments and related risk assessments
  • Assist with the induction and training of new starters as well as increasing awareness throughout the company in privacy and data protection matters by producing and delivering necessary training and presentation materials.
  • Assist the DPO to drive the implementation of the company’s privacy framework by prioritizing and leading privacy initiatives to adopt business processes necessary for compliance with the privacy framework – e.g. implementation of remedial actions identified through privacy assessments
  • Stay current with EMEA and APAC privacy, data protection and related laws to be able to provide up-to-date legal advice to the business units
  • Cultivate a data protection culture within the company to reinforce implementation and importance of data protection

Competencies & skills requirements

The successful candidate will have working knowledge and understanding of data protection regulatory landscape, including GDPR. Additionally, experience in contract review and project management are highly beneficial. The candidate will also need to provide evidence of the following:

  • Experience in working with data protection contracts, including processing, transfer and related agreements;
  • Willingness to promote a data protection and privacy culture of awareness and understanding;
  • Experience in developing and managing data protection & privacy policies and procedures;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages;
  • the ability to achieve results and work to deadlines;
  • the ability to successfully multi-task and prioritise workloads;
  • the ability to self-motivate and work on own initiative, and as part of a team;
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus;
  • the ability to handle confidential information and maintain discretion on sensitive issues;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Able to provide advice and training regarding data protection;
  • Able to work well with others in a multicultural and multidisciplinary structure.

Job requirements and qualifications: Indicate the minimum education and experience for this job, any certifications required

Minimum education: Master of Laws, with specific knowledge of Data Protection Law or similar through experience

Minimum experience: 1-2 years experience in the field of data protection

Language skills:Must be fluent in English. Additional language(s) are a plus

Required certificates:CIPP/E or other IAPP Certification is an asset
