Within JRD, the Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Area (ID TA) aims to be a transformational medical innovator by discovering, developing and making available therapeutic medicines that address key unmet needs in infectious diseases in the developed and the developing world. Within ID, our focus is on finding better treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, RSV, Flu and other Infectious Diseases.Janssen’s initiatives in global public health (GPH) complement the groundbreaking science of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson with innovative strategies that improve access to medicines, foster collaborations and support public health solutions to sustainably advance healthcare worldwide.The JRD Finance Team is very connected throughout the organization to drive value and deliver on its financial commitments. In line with the geographical co-location of the business in both EU and US, the ID TA Finance Team has presence in both Belgium (Beerse) and the US (San Francisco).The ID TA Finance Team is currently recruiting for a Finance Manager based in Beerse (Belgium). Reporting to the Finance Director for Infectious Diseases, the position will have direct oversight of 1 manager (including 2 Senior Analysts and 1 FLDP) in San Francisco and 3 Senior Analysts in Beerse.Finance Manager, JRDKey Responsibilities
  • Provide end to end financial support to the GPH TA leadership teams, compound development and project management teams throughout the development cycle of the R&D programs (Discovery through Launch); enabling informed and timely decision making.
  • Provide support to the ID TA for consolidation during business planning, closing and valuation cycles; as well as other specific planning activities (functional, headcount, capex and other departmental spend).
  • People management: lead a finance team of 2 associates in Beerse and San Francisco and foster a strong one-team spirit across both geographies. Seek growth opportunities for team members to enable continuous development.
  • Partner with the various stakeholders; including GPH Access, Strategy and Portfolio Analysis, and Project Management teams to influence the prioritization of GPH projects, creating value and driving impact for patients throughout the R&D process.
  • Develop and validate financial valuations for internal and external projects as well as partnering opportunities by closely working with project teams and other functions.
  • Financial management of R&D Out Of Pocket (OOPs) spend and Operating Expenses (OPEX) to assure sound investments while seeking out cost savings opportunities.
  • Within global Janssen R&D finance team, participate in global projects focusing on standardization and efficiencies related to reporting and controlling (e.g. SigniFi and other improvement and automation initiatives).
  • Assure financial compliance and control for Health Care Compliance, Sarbanes Oxley and Audit requirements.
QualificationsQualifications & Experience:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) is required
  • A major in Accounting or Finance or Economics is preferred
  • Master’s degree, MBA, CFA, CPA or CMA is preferred
  • A minimum of at least 8 years of relevant finance/accounting work experience is required
  • Prior people management experiences and experience working with global teams is strongly preferred
  • A background from the healthcare, pharmaceutical or biotech industries is preferred
  • Must have strong financial analysis skills and ability to partner with people at all levels of the organization
