Frontend Engineer (Product focus)

About the position

We are looking for a Frontend Engineerwho is passionate about creating clean single-page applications and rendering large and complex amounts of information in a glanceable way, and wants to see their work translated into real life applications that impact 100.000’s of hotels worldwide.

In a fast-growing scale-up priorities might shift from time to time. You’ll gain experience and ownership in different domains depending on your ambition, but here are some general topics:

• Experiment, think about and take ownership of different parts of our frontend architecture and find ways to improve it.

• You will be working on new features or improvements that affect all different frontend teams and will collaborate with the other teams with any technical issues they may have.

• Iterate on our design system, in close collaboration with the design team.

• Work on keeping a high technical standard, together with the rest of the frontend team.

• Provide support to your team members and other teams in the company. We have a very open and flat structure and have a very short feedback loop on both internal and customer questions.

About the team

The OTA Insight Frontend team in Gent is the most visible part of what our engineering team does. The mission of our Frontend Product team is to build a reliable and performant BI application that’s being fed by our data APIs. The challenge lies in managing the large and complex amounts of data that we’re crunching on the fly, and at the same time offering a simple and actionable experience to our end user. The team works in close collaboration with our Product team, as well as a highly talented group of software engineers, devops engineers, and project managers to drive initiatives forward.

We are looking for:

• Bachelor or master degree in a STEM or design field or equivalent experience.

• A solid understanding of core web and browser concepts.

• Experience with any modern frontend framework - we use Ember.js.

• A desire to work on technical issues, thinking about and improving the architecture of multiple frontend projects.

• Passion for leading-edge technology and proven track record researching and implementing new tech effectively.

• Able to convey technical concepts in a concise and clear way.

• High-energy self-starter with a passion for data, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

• Fluent in English.

We welcome:

• Experience with design systems or component libraries.
• Knowledge of Python and Django.
