As an answer to the challenge of decarbonisation, John Cockerill designs, manufactures and installs pressurized alkaline electrolyzers. As a matter of fact, John Cockerill is the world leader in the delivery of electrolyzers for the large-scale production of green hydrogen with more than 200 MW sold in 2021.

Nature & Scope

Within the R&I unit of the Hydrogen Business Line, you contribute to the development of innovative solutions in line with the product and technology roadmaps. More specifically, this hands-on position offers the opportunity to operate top-notch test facilities and to impact product performance, reliability, and durability.

Main duties
  • You oversee inventory management such as selecting, purchasing, storing, and allocating of test facility equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools
  • You are responsible for laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools including inspecting, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting as well as disposal of tested samples
  • You ensure proper maintenance, configuration and availability of the bench and its equipment
  • You take part to the definition and planning of the test campaigns in order to qualify the new developments
  • You perform Root Cause Analysis/Failure Mode Analysis and recommend actions in order to improve the product design
  • You take part to the analysis on the return on experience of projects
Profile & Skills
  • BSc/MSc degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Process or Electrical) or professional experience justifying equivalent level
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as commissioning engineer
  • Analytical, team player, problem-solver, hands-on, and autonomous
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in French and English
  • Knowledge of test bench/laboratory equipment, related supplies, computer hardware and software
  • Expert knowledge of HSE protocols related to electrochemical systems involving low/medium voltage and handling of hazardous substances (H2, O2, aqueous potassium hydroxide)
  • Experience with failure mode analysis, and verification and validation (V&V) management
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
