Summary:

The work schedule for this position is full-time - 40 hours per week (FMA and PSA).

Duties

The U.S.-European Media Hub reports to the Managing Director for International Media in the State Department’s Bureau of Global Public Affairs (GPA) through the Office of International Media Engagement (GPA/IME). Working closely with the GPA and European and Eurasian Affairs Bureaus, the Hub develops and executes communication strategies on issues of regional and global importance, tapping into all available media platforms, both traditional and online.. Given the growing diversity in the media environment and the increasing influence of video, the Hub is also at the forefront of social media and video messaging. This position is responsible for hub call organization, media training and studio support, office management and time and attendance.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years’ professional experience in communications. media or marketing with prior work with social media, digital content development and foreign policy.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of media relations, European politics and current events, European media outlets, marketing, and communications. General knowledge of press and public affairs activities.

Education Requirements:

University degree in marketing, communications, journalism, international relations, or related major is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Fluency in English. This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Communications and press coordination skills, social media skills, including analytics, video production and editing skills, and an interest and ability to learn new technologies. Ability to manage projects and timelines independently and under tight deadlines. Flexibility in a rapidly changing media environment. Strong organizational sills, the ability to work independently, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, to set priorities, and to produce a large volume of work accurately and under pressure. Needs flexibility and team spirit to be able to work with often changing schedules and sometimes conflicting priorities.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
