Interim Purchasing Director

For one of our clients, a company in the medical devices sector based in the Walloon Brabant, we are looking for a self-employed Interim Manager "Purchasing Director"for an assignment of 6 to 12 months.

The Interim Manager will report to the Manufacturing & Supply Chain Director and will set up the function of Purchasing Director in order to respond to the current business needs.

The Interim Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing activities and team within category and to manage, monitor and improve the purchasing activities. He will drive the Purchasing teams to secure MSC Department Objectives.

Responsabilities:

Define and execute the purchasing strategy, goals and budget in line with the 5-year strategic plan:

Purchasing Strategies and related action plans are formalized, validated, communicated and followed by the team.

• Cost objectives are set in accordance with the business units and are re-challenged according to market opportunities.
  
• Supplier delivery and quality are monitored and secured.
• Market (including raw material) and technology watch is performed with regular reporting.

Continuously develop Supplier partnership:

• Reinforce collaboration with Research & Development team of all Business Units in order to understand the future technology needs and increase upstream collaboration.
  
• Make sure that subcontracted designs and co-design are managed properly.
• Participate to S&OP process, identify Supplies.
• Develop supplier network accordingly.

Supply chain sustainability: action plan in line with sustainability program is defined, validated and implemented.

• Improvement projects
  
• Participate to the definition and the improvement of the transversal processes and coordinate with the related departments. Define interface and ensure efficient relationships with related departments.
• Define and lead purchasing improvement plan.

Report and document global purchasing activities through relevant set of KPI’s. Follow up health of supplier (financial/ delivery / quality) and make sure that purchasing team defines clear actions in case of issues.

Lead, coordinate, manage purchasing team activities (planning, resources,...)

The purchasing activities are implemented according to the strategy / performance and development management of the team is implemented and documented.

Analyse escalated issues and implement appropriate solutions. Make sure that the team has the right focus and appropriate answer to the emergencies.

Support sourcing team during strategic negotiation.

Process ownership

Improve processes and policies linked to the purchasing team and activities.

Act as process owner for sourcing and procurement processes. Processes and policies are regularly improved to increase efficiency and compliance, they are updated according to the organizational & regulatory changes. Documents are validated and followed by the team.

Profile:

The Interim Manager has 10-15 years of experience with a minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role. He/She has an extensive experience in direct and indirect purchasing in complex and industrial environment. He/She is able to define, monitor and improve the purchasing strategy He/She has a strong experience in transversal project and process management skills. He/She is result/action oriented and solution minded. He/She has a sound experience in management of people. He/She has affinity with high technologies and industrial products. He/She has excellent communication and negotiating skills with different stakeholders. He/She is fluent in English and French.

The Interim Manager is self-employed and immediately available for an assignment of 6-12 months.
