Job Title

Manager, Franchise Fintech Management

Franchise is core to all Mastercard business: we enable our business by licensing our customers, registering third parties in the payments ecosystem, and creating, modifying, and enforcing standards that govern participation in the system. Franchise Architecture and Standards manages the operating rules and standards that allow Mastercard and our customers to offer safe and convenient ways to pay in more than 210 countries and territories around the world. As technology accelerates the introduction of new and innovative ways to shop, pay, and send money, the Franchise Europe’s team is responsible for ensuring that Mastercard’s Franchise adapts in a way that enables these solutions while preserving the integrity of our brands and network.

The Role: (can be based in London or Brussels/Waterloo)

The role will help Franchise to partner with product and account teams to ensure that we are evolving the Franchise in a way that advances our product strategies and builds enduring value for our customers. This role will be responsible for the development of new standards as well as the adaptation of existing standards to advancements in technology that support product innovation and security.
  • Manage variances for Europe, leading the review of variances and coordinating decision making
  • Contribute to the development of standards in a way that that drives business growth and preserves the integrity of the Mastercard Franchise
  • Partner with business units to drive ongoing development of standards that enable new operating models, new technologies, and new customers
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups and facilitate meetings to ensure productive dialog and discussions
  • Advise management on the development and application of governance standards and draft changes in relation to evolving business environments
  • Draft standards required to enable new product and transaction processing models, and manage through the internal review and governance process
  • Manage the program management and relationship with new customer types. Expanding the Franchise to non issuers/acquirers, but key for the network entities . This role will manage our Network Enablement Partners program for Europe. This program is key for us to expand our Franchise, technology and services.

About You
  • An ability to build strong, positive working relationships at all functional levels
  • Experience with the operating rules and standards of a payment network or money transfer service
  • A broad understanding of the card payments operating environment, including issuing, acquiring, and mobile wallets
  • General knowledge of the principles and practices around digitization and tokenization
  • An understanding of the use of acceptance and brand marks
  • Awareness of the role local law and regulation play in how accounts are actually issued and transactions are acquired
  • BA/BS degree required
