Make your mark for patients

We are looking for a Manufacturing System Engineer who is hands-on to join us in our BioProcess Systems team, based in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium.

About the role

The Manufacturing System Engineer plays an important role in the BioProcess Systems team, being an active member of the team and being accountable for all aspects related to production planning and technical support of the Biologics Pilot Plant (BPP).

Who you’ll work with

  • Jérémie Gruber as your Manager as well as many other colleagues and external partners.

OPERATIONS

What you’ll do:

  • Manage and support priorities for system projects: existing system upgrade and improvement, new system implementation, implementation of new non-process related technology or equipment.
  • Support implementation of new process technology or equipment process.
  • Management, coordination and follow-up of technical intervention, maintenance, revamping and shutdown operations.
  • Assume responsibility of the deliverable of project outcomes (effect, lead time, costs).
  • Create, manage, maintain and improve the detailed manufacturing planning for manufacturing teams, based on existing templates/formats (RTMS-Emerson, MS-Excel, MS-Project, Gant chart).
  • Integrate all technical interventions and supporting activities into the production schedule.
  • Daily follow-up/update of the manufacturing planning on various topics.
  • Be the system owner (along with Systems team) and the “super-user” of the dynamic planning software tool (RTMS-Emerson) in order to manage and supervise the planning of manufacturing campaigns and the scheduling of associated support activities.
  • Lead coordination and alignment meetings to follow-up on various planning related topics with the key stakeholders involved.
  • Creation of new tools and/or update/continuous improvement of existing tools regarding documentation management or DS release tool in order to generate KPI’s.
  • Act as System Owner of different systems supporting the BPP: technical responsible for the good operation of the systems, manage access control, technical issues follow-up.
  • Have a transversal and global overview of the systems and their impact.
  • Create strong relationship with internal and external customers and stakeholders.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

  • Good leadership and influencing skills – setting direction for projects and technical investments.
  • Efficient management of project and project team with UCB Project Management methodology.
  • Elaborate, track, control and meet project budget thanks to cost control tools.
  • Compliance with all appropriate regulations (GMP, HSE, ISO14001..) and SOP’s.
  • Ensure targeted audience training in the necessary quality environment.

OTHERS:

  • Lead/support deviations (Creation, Root Cause Assessment, Impact Analysis, CAPA definition and execution, investigations) and change controls (new system introduction, technical modifications of the facilities).
  • Author and approve comprehensive and accurate technology and manufacturing documentation, procedures, specifications and protocols/reports.

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 3 to 6 years of experience in (bio)pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and systems, planning management and technical interventions supervision.
  • Able to understand/master various IT, automation technologies (PCS7) and production software (Unicorn), their functional specifications and their architecture.
  • Able to analyze and decompose complex requirements, perform gap analysis and recommend solutions.
  • Able to initiate risk assessments and development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Able to understand/master/improve dynamic planning software tool “RTMS” (an Emerson software) in order to manage the planning of manufacturing campaigns and the scheduling of associated support activities. Experience or interest in coding (macro or algorithm) is a plus.
  • Project Management-Leadership skills / Technical Interventions Supervision, including project planning, monitoring, issue resolution, decision making, reporting.
  • Very good command in French and English, both spoken and written.
