Function:

Are you keen on innovation in retail and logistics? As a Project Engineer Smart Technics you will ensure visible improvements in our stores and logistics. You will implement the newest digital technologies and automation solutions. Expect challenging projects with impact!

You will start to work at Smart Technics (read our story at smarttechnics.colruytgroup.com), a multi-disciplinary team of innovation and technology experts, driving Colruyt Group forward at a technological level with digital and innovative projects. As a Project Engineer Smart Technics, you will work on the practical integration of these technological developments during pilot projects in the stores and logistics.

Your task package in a nutshell:

• You will take the lead in the implementation of new automation, robotisation or digitalisation solutions in our stores and logistics centres.
• You will map functional demands and problems of the business in consultation with ourinternal customers from logistics and the stores. In doing so, your guiding principles are simplicity, efficiency and feasibility. On this basis, you will conceive a plan of approach for the implementation.
• You will collaborate with external technology providers and analyse how you canintegrate their solutions into our systems.
• Together with a team of mechanical and electr(on)ical designers and software developers, you willintegrate different hardware and software components into a working system solution, that you will validate extensively.
• Depending on your project, you will sometimes take on a coordinating role and steer a small team. In that case, your strong communication skills will come in handy!
• You will participate in daily activities with regards to the design, development, integration and testing of innovative solutions.
• You keep a finger on the pulse in regard to the latest innovations in automation and digitalisation.

You will work in Halle or Haasrode and 1 or 2 days a week, you can work from home or at one of our regional offices (Mechelen, Haasrode, Merelbeke, Deinze, etc.).

Profile:

• Training and experience - You have adegree as an industrial engineer electromechanics, mechatronics, mechanical design or automation. You have a broad technical interest and affinity with different aspects of automation and digitalisation. Experience with the development of (prototypes of) mechatronics products in multidisciplinary teams is a big plus.
• Analytical capacity - You can process all sorts of information and tasks in a short time and without losing track of the bigger picture. With your critical attitude, you are quick to distinguish the main points from the minor ones, even in complex situations. You have a good eye for figures and can smoothly translate complex data into clear insights and advice.
• Problem-solving thinking – You have a hands-on attitude and help with the integration of mechatronical prototypes. You think in terms of solutions and you always remain calm when an issue rears its head. Problems? You see them as challenges to do better!
• Flexible - You will be given a full-time contract with flexible office hours but working a little longer every now and then is not a problem for you.
• Goal-oriented - You are not easily daunted by things, and you go straight to the point. There is no challenge you cannot handle. You have a can-do attitude
• Languages - You communicate fluently in Dutch and have a good knowledge of English, so that you will be able to work together well with your colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
