Nature of the tasks

Non-exhaustive list of the tasks to be carried out:

• Ability to test efficiently and fast
• Definition of test strategy, test plans, test cases and test scenarios
• Definition of risks concerning test activities
• Construction of test scenarios and scripts
• Preparation of test data
• Development and maintenance of automated tests
• Coordination of automated testing across the development team and review of their automating testing practices
• Coordination of all the QA activities, test results, defects, root cause analysis and identifying areas of improvement
• Manual test execution if and when needed
• Reporting of test results
• Assistance with organization and execution of UAT
• Interact with the business analysts, customer, users, project leaders and the developers
• Very good communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
• Analysis and problem solving
• Contribution to the implementation of the technical architecture and DevOps
• In-depth knowledge of business process analysis
• Knowledge of modern web technologies (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware, MVC pattern) is a plus
• Ability to give business and technical presentations.
• Ability to apply high quality standards
• Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application

Knowledge and skills

• Deep knowledge in one or more domains of the study required for the function (e.g. quality control, security, infrastructure, development language, knowledge of technology required, requirements analysis, performance analysis, a specific technical domain like vulnerability testing, business process modelling, etc.
• Capability to write clear and structured technical documents.
• Ability to participate in meetings, good communication skills
• Capability of working in an international/multicultural environment/team.

Due to the particular nature of a large international organisation such as the European Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills:

• Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team;
• Ability to participate in multilingual meetings;
• Ability to work with a high degree of rigour and method and, more specifically, to follow naming conventions and coding standards;
• Ability to work in multi-cultural environment, on multiple large projects;
• Excellent Team Player
• Ability to understand, speak and write English is a must

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

• 
  At least 11 years of specific experience in the IT testing.
• Extensive experience in Agile projects and the use of Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, including Zephyr)
• Excellent knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g. Agile/Scrum)
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience in integration projects
• High level understanding of Oracle Weblogic
• Good knowledge of Selenium WebDriver FAT (functional automated tool), PostMan, Cucumber.
• Knowledge of WebServices
• Good knowledge of Zephyr for Jira, planning Test Cycles and generating Test

Reports

• 
  Good knowledge of API tests, BDD (Behavioral driven development)
• Knowledge of SQL and non-SQL databases and search engines (Solr / Elastic search)
• Overall knowledge of Java Spring Boot development processes ( deployment / how to build - maven / how to test - rest api )
• Good understanding of Web security and GDPR
• Ability to help in development OR understand automated tests in existing test framework using in Java/JavaScript/JSON files
• Good Knowledge of SQL queries
• In-depth knowledge of IS quality assurance and quality control
• Ability to coordinate a team performing Quality/testing activities as well as helping client with UAT tests
• In-depth experience with quality procedures
• In-depth experience with Integration Testing, Functional Testing, Non- Functional testing (performance, load, stress testing), Regression Testing,
  Automated Testing, E2E testing of current business process, Acceptance Testing
• Maintaining the documentation for all testing activities
• Good knowledge of modern testing methodologies and tools
• Good knowledge of information systems lifecycle
• Monitoring the performance of the quality process and ensuring that processes meet required standards
• Ability to write test strategies, test plans, test cases, focus on customer goals
• Initiative to work with others / propose solutions to speed up quality goals
• Strong capacity in preparing and writing test reports
• Strong capacity to give high level presentations

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
The tasks shall be normally performed on Commission premises in Brussels. Subject to the agreement of the Commission and of the Contractor, the
service providers might be authorised to perform their services from remote locations different from the Commission premises;
The service provider may be requested to participate in meetings with the Commission’s services in Luxembourg (and exceptionally in other locations);

• The methodology used for development is based on Agile;
• SQL Developer is used as development utility for Oracle;
• Atlassian suite is used for DEVOPS;

The methodology for service management is ITIL (aligned);

• Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome are the web browsers;
• All documents must be written in MS Word.
