Pernod Ricard actively participates in legislative and/or government deliberations, arguing for our positions and solutions on behalf of the industry and other stakeholders at local, European, and international level. We do this either through industry associations of which we are a member or directly, when an issue specifically affects the Group.

Each of our actions is based on three principles: compliance with current laws and regulations, transparency, and relations with legislatures.

Pernod Ricard European Public Affairs’ team, International Trade team & their missions

The European Public Affairs team, based in Brussels, is part of the Group “Government Affairs and Alcohol in Society Department”.

Our team has – among other – the following missions:

  • To defend and proactively support the interests of the Pernod Ricard Group towards EU authorities, professional associations, and other relevant stakeholders

  • To provide high quality assistance to local affiliates based in EU Member States on EU related topics

We do cover a broad range of European policies that impact our business, such as: sectorial specific regulations (wine & spirits), taxation, marketing, digital, health, …etc.

The International Trade teamis also based in Brussels and is part of the Group’s “Government Affairs and Alcohol in Society Department”.

Our team has – among other- the following missions:

  • To support export of the Pernod Ricard Group’s European products by promoting and defending transparent, non-discriminatory, and clearly defined international/European trade rules.

  • To defend the international trade related interests of the Pernod Ricard Group towards EU institutions, third countries’ representations in Brussels and professional associations.

  • To support PR affiliates in defending our trade related positions in EU Member States and third countries where we operate.

JOB DESCRIPTION– Functions & Responsibilities

The successful candidate with have an opportunity to contribute both to the work of the European Affairs team (50%) and the International Trade Team (50%).

In order to support two teams in their day-to-day activities, we are looking for a European Affairs and Trade Project Manager(V.I.E. contract). The VIE will have the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Support us in its day to day work ( e.g.monitoring policies’ developments, the analysis of their impact on PR and finally shaping Group’s position on diverse EU policy and international trade topics; assisting the teams in preparation and follow-up to meetings with the industry and government stakeholders.

  • Active involvement in our wine and spirits EU trade associations.

  • Participation to meetings with relevant EU stakeholders, and to relevant events in Brussels or in other Member States.

  • Assist in providing daily assistance to affiliates based in EU Member States.

  • Support in the organisation of internal and external events.

REQUIREMENTS- What are we looking for?

  • Master’s degree in EU law, economy or political science

  • Previous experience(s) in public affairs is a must – it would be particularly appreciated if the candidate has previous experience in EU public affairs and/or trade, and within EU institutions (European Parliament, Commission, or Council). Work experience in the food, wine and spirits business would be a plus, but is not a strict requirement.

  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite; a good command of another EU language is desirable; any additional languages are an asset.

  • Thorough knowledge of the EU institutions and the EU decision-making process.

  • Good analytical, communication (written and spoken) and organizational skills.

  • Team player, with an ability to work in a multicultural and diverse working environment.

  • Flexible, with ability to adapt easily to the evolving EU policy environment, on diverse policy topics.

Full time position, based in Brussels

Starting Date: October 2021

Duration: 12 months (renewable)
