The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (38 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (15 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
Job holder acts as Events Manager for the twelve diverse agencies representing the U.S. Mission to the European Union (USEU) and personal protocol advisor to USEU Ambassador, the Deputy Chief of Mission, their spouses and other mission officials on protocol issues and related matters in planning, developing, and carrying out official and social events at their residences and off premises. Develops subject expertise, knowledge of American and EU protocol, and in-depth understanding of EU institutions and policies.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years’ work experience in a managerial, public relations, protocol. or events planning position.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of all aspects of event planning; basic knowledge of State Department procedures for protocol required. Knowledge of EU institutions and policies.
Completion of college studies is required.
LANGUAGE: Fluency in English.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High customer service standards.
Considerable tact and diplomacy required to deal with top-level offices and diplomats.
Ability to work independently and deal simultaneously with various, often overlapping events and functions and resolve scheduling problems, prioritizing appropriately.
Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as necessary to cover official events.
Ability to use Word processing, utilize electronic calendar, develop and maintain databases and spread sheets.
Must be willing to travel 10-15 percent of the time.

Benefits and Other Info
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Brussels may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
