We are looking for a candidate for a VIE mission of:
Associate Scientist Discovery (microfluidics) - Lead Characterisation- VIE Contract (W/M)
Target start date: 1/10/2022
To strengthen our High-throughput Profiling Unit within the Discovery Lead Characterisation group, we are looking for a qualified Associate Scientist to help with set up, troubleshooting & maintenance of a novel experimental platform based on microfluidics. The platform will be used for screening of NANOBODY® Molecule lead drug candidates for various therapeutic applications. VIE will assist in development & optimization of high-throughput cell- and protein-based assays run on this platform.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot microfluidic and optical set-ups
- Perform cell-based assays (e.g., ligand binding, cell signalling)
- Use mammalian cell culture technologies including cell line generation, maintenance & quality control of cell lines (expression of target protein)
- Perform flow cytometry experiments and biochemical assays
- Analyse data and prepare written reports of your results
- Communicate results and observations to the team
- Contribute actively to project-oriented teams
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Bioengineering or equivalent
- Experience in the above-mentioned responsibilities would be an asset
- Experience in building and maintenance of microscopes, microfluidics, LabView is an asset
- Fluency in English language
- At ease with MS- Office suite (Word, PowerPoint etc.,); advanced Excel will be a plus
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills alongside perseverance
- Technical aptitude in combination with a hands-on mentality
- A pro-active approach and high sense for quality, accuracy and detail
- A team-oriented attitude, flexibility, enthusiasm and ability to work independently
- Ability to report and discuss experimental design and data in English
