In order to function effectively, all large organisations need good internal communications. Local councils are no exception and it is the job of a local government Internal Communications Officer to ensure clear and efficient communication across the organisation between managers and staff and between departments. Local government internal communications officers might also be known as corporate communications officers.

Your impact

As a Communication Manager, you’ll make an impact by:

Press relations

  • Deliver effective and well thought out PR programmes for key spokespeople that are aimed at enhancing PwC and PwC Legal’s reputation

  • Leverage strong verbal and written communications skills to develop messaging and distil them into compelling content for press, including Q&As, press releases, op-eds, talking points …

  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the firm’s subject matter experts and media outlets.

  • Proactively create continuous opportunities for PR, define priorities and the right media approach to ensure the most impactful outcome, making relevant strategic connections to other campaigns or activities

  • Manage the firm’s crisis communications by identifying trends, risks and issues relevant to the organisation and handle short-term media enquiries that could impact PwC’s reputation.

  • Prepare spokespeople for their interaction with media and other relevant internal and external stakeholders, providing trusted counsel on issues and matters related to communications, preparing executive briefing materials, developing messages and providing media/message training

  • Management of the communications agency relationship that includes coordinating the implementation of developed plans, measuring the agency’s effectiveness in delivering activities requested and monitoring the agency’s contribution to strategic outcomes.

External communications activities

  • Contribute to drive positive, innovative and impactful external communications and develop content tailored and applicable to all priority audiences (from core narrative, key messages, talking points for different stakeholders, social media posts, scripts, speeches, articles …)

  • Exercise judgement and advise regarding message tone, format, timing, channel, and audience to ensure the best and most effective approach.

  • Close collaboration with the marketing team and active contribution/coordination to marketing activities such as launch of campaigns, events, etc.

Social media

  • Oversee PwC and PwC Legal’s social media activities including developing impactful paid and organic social campaigns; advise on content and messaging and coaching internal stakeholders to optimally leverage social media.

Imagine 2030

  • Drive and project manage the Imagine 2030 campaign, aimed at creating an ecosystem of participating organisations bringing together impactful change on the ground towards a better future for Belgium by 2030. This includes 360° campaign management from narrative development, press activation, coordination of copywriting, internal people activation, website & video creation, social media campaign and third party stakeholder management.

About you

  • Strong understanding of the professional services sector

  • Ideally at least 4-6 years of solid media relations / communications experience, preferably at a senior level within a services / b2b environment - inhouse or agency

  • Track record of managing high impact PR programmes and handling challenging and complex technical matters and sensitive issues

  • Experience in analysing and interpreting complex data, reports and surveys

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills, and proven ability to plan, manage and deliver projects

  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and ability to manage multiple projects

  • Bilingual, in either Dutch or French, and English
