As a result of our continued ground breaking growth in EMEA, Salesforce is hiring a Corporate Counselto join our EMEA Commercial Legal team, to specifically support the expansion of our footprint in the Benelux Public Sector, including European Institutions. The Commercial Legal team delivers innovative, trusted and world-class legal services to advance and protect Salesforce’s interests while creating a fulfilling work environment for our legal family. The position will be based either in the Amsterdam or Brussels office (with ability to work remotely partially).
Role Description:
We are looking for a passionate, high-performing, results-oriented and experienced Corporate Counsel who will play a key role in supporting Salesforce’s EMEA Public Sector Sales and Professional Services organizations in negotiating transactions and commercial agreements with a main focus on the Benelux region. This position will act as the primary contact for regional teams and leadership with regards to commercial legal matters.
Main Responsibilities:
- Advise on Public Sector laws, regulations and procedures in the Benelux-region, including European Institutions, and contribute to the strengthening of our public sector contractual offering in the Benelux to meet our targets and embrace the contemplated business growth.
- Establish yourself as a primary legal contact for internal customers within region and act as a trusted advisor in order to deliver high quality and pragmatic legal advice in an efficient manner.
- Review, negotiate and draft complex legal agreements, such as master subscription agreements, professional services agreements, public frameworks, alliances and resale agreements, data processing agreements and ordering documents, and handle associated legal issues, all whilst actively contributing to a trust relationship with our customers.
- Provide support in answering public market surveys, RFIs and RFPs.
- Closely partner with other internal functions, such as privacy, security, revenue recognition, compliance and pricing, to allow Salesforce’s continuous growth in line with its business requirements, policies, goals and vision.
- Lead and coordinate discussions with external law firms as needed.
- Actively contribute to the Commercial Legal teams’ ongoing development of knowledge, skills and processes.
- Assist in developing training materials and provide training to the business on relevant legal topics and best practices.
- Actively participate in cross-regional and cross-functional team projects.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Qualified in The Netherlands, Belgium or another major European jurisdiction.
- Substantive experience in public sector procurement laws and regulations as well as data protection laws.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Outstanding legal drafting and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and strong legal and analytic reasoning.
- Excellent command of English, Dutch, and French both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, client-oriented culture with excellent judgement and ability to prioritize and manage deadlines.
- Calm under pressure and able to provide thoughtful recommendations.
- Team spirited and collaborative attitude.
Highly Desirable Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrated IT/cloud contract negotiation and drafting experience.
- Knowledge and experience in US revenue recognition rules.
