Created in 2017, the aim of MyData-TRUST is to support the Life Sciences Industry in Data Protection compliance projects. MyData-TRUST is composed of a multi-disciplinary team including data privacy lawyers, IT, security specialists and pharmaceutical subject matter experts. Our scale-up company is looking for a Data Protection Lawyer for the Mons entity (Belgium) to work under a hybrid model (part remote working and part presence in the office).

Mission

The Data Protection Lawyer collaborates with the Operational Team for the realization of clients’ data protection projects.

He/She also takes part to community of practice and/or working groups in relation with Data Protection that aim to improve MD-T services.

The Data Protection Lawyer stays informed about recent developments in the Data Protection field and assesses the impact of those changes for MD-T business and clients.

Main tasks

The Data Protection Lawyer:

  • Acts as legal support in the context of his/her client’s portfolio.
  • Responds to Operational team and clients’ requests for legal advice, provides information on legal and regulatory obligations in terms of data protection and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Participates in meetings with clients.
  • Writes and reviews contracts such as data protection agreements, joint-controllership arrangements, data sharing agreements.
  • Writes and reviews privacy notices, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates to the implementation of data transfers requirements.
  • Assesses the application of data protection laws to clients’ websites and social networks, identifies CAPAs and writes/reviews appropriate documentation.
  • Participates in the execution of data protection gap analysis (DPGA).
  • Performs Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIA) that are not clinical trials related.
  • Manages and coordinates projects.
  • Carries out legal monitoring and stays informed about the latest developments and legal trends in this area.
  • Participates in internal working groups analyzing and interpreting EU and non-EU data protection laws and practices in order to continuously improve MD-T services.
  • Develops internal procedures, guidelines and templates for the provision of services.
  • Writes articles for the company blog and newsletters.
  • Acts as a speaker at company events and webinars.
  • Organizes internal information sessions on legal developments in the field of data protection in order to keep operational knowledge up-to-date.
  • Establishes a permanent relationship and dialogue with the hierarchy, colleagues and clients.
  • Develops and applies knowledge of the areas of intervention (life sciences sector at large).
  • Listens to the point of view of the interlocutors in a situation of negotiation or consultation.

What are we looking for ?

The Data Protection Lawyer:

  • Is trained and passionate about ICT law and especially data protection/GDPR.
  • Other legal experience is a big asset.
  • Masters English (an additional language is a plus).
  • Has leadership and persuasion skills.
  • Has an analytical mind and a sense of developed listening.
  • Demonstrates a good ability to advise, interpret and react.
  • Can work in a team.
  • Can meet deadlines.
  • Is Flexible, stress resistant & solution oriented.
