External Partners Strategic Management

About the Opportunity

Join the Specialty Care External Supply (SCES) as External Partners Strategic Management . In this role you are responsible for providing operational, quality, HSE and supply chain (MSAT, REG) oversight to Contract Manufacturing and Laboratory Organizations (CMO /or CLO) to ensure CMO/CLO delivery of services for Sanofi as part of the specialty care product portfolio. Activities that are outsourced include manufacturing for drug substance (DS), drug product (DP) and finished goods/label and pack (FG/L&P).

Possible location:any country in Europe.

In this role you will…

  • Engage with identified Key Suppliers to establish a business relationship which bridges between the joint operations teams and the Sanofi global senior leadership governance level. The role is not a reactive escalation role, it is a proactive relationship role intended to gain an understanding of the contract organizations strategies and key business drivers
  • Work with Operations leads to ensure the contract is operationalized in order to manage commercial obligations i.e. business processes and robust governance models are in place to monitor the health of the contract organization
  • Support functional, Autonomous Production Units (APU’s) and core team leadership to establish financial forecasts, identify ways to reduce costs and manage budgets. Contract negotiations with external partners in conjunction with Procurement, Legal, SCES and other groups as applicable
  • In conjunction with Procurement, Legal, SCES and other groups as applicable, lead the development of the contract /amendment including definition of technical scope and creating the framework for financial negotiation strategy. Providing business guidance to Sanofi Core Teams during scoping of Statement of Works (SOW’s). Review of the costs associated with SOW’s and become involved with financial discussions if contract organization is not amenable to core team feedback
  • Work with contract organization to manage capacity during supply risk periods. Conduct strategic scenario analysis to ensure capacity is proactively managed. This work is in collaboration with Global supply planners for Sanofi integrated business planning (IBP)
  • Stakeholder attendance for Periodic Business Reviews (PBR’s)/Joint Steering Committees’ (JSC’s) with contract organizations to provide contractual input and relationship facilitation. Provide regular feedback to relevant stakeholders on progress with contract orgs
  • Act as first point of escalation on contract related topics if not resolved with the contract organization at the core team level. Actively involved in developing production sourcing strategy and definition of key alliances / partnerships for network investments
  • Continuously pursue cost reduction activities and charter projects via Sanofi global or core teams to implement changes in conjunction with the CMO
  • Provide input related to contract organization escalations to Finance and SCES leadership regarding budgeting for CMO expenses, reserves and other financial risk/opportunity
  • Work with Procurement and Finance on annual standard costing

About you

Qualifications/ Education & work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • 12+ years of experience in biopharma manufacturing sector with 5+ years of experience in Operations, MSAT, Quality leadership role
  • Demonstrated delivery of results on time and within budget leading cross functional team for large scope complex business critical projects (4-5 years / 3-5 projects)
  • Negotiation, strategy, analytical, solution finder, communication and convincing skills
  • IT skills: proficient in MS Office tools
  • Oral and written fluency in English
  • Driving license, travel up to 30%
