At Chemours we are looking for a Hydrogen Economy Application Development Engineer for our production site in Mechelen.In this role you will collaborate within the Chemours global technical community, including other application development engineers around the world, the global R&D teams, and the market development organization.
The Application Development Engineer sits in the Advanced Performance Materials business, where you will work with a wide variety of applications for Chemours Nafion ™ products within the globally expanding hydrogen economy. Your responsibilities will include developing new ideas, prototyping and testing those concepts in Chemours laboratories and clients’ facilities. Travelling to clients’ facilities will be a significant part of the time, regular travel within Europe and some international travel to the US and Asia may be required.
Responsibilities
- You will interact directly with partners, both leadership and technical staff, to answer questions, solve problems and working together on development projects;
- Assess product performance, diagnose, troubleshoot, optimize processing parameters and resolve issues during the development;
- Analyse data independently, draw statistically based conclusions and determine next steps;
- Keep accurate records of experimental trials, customer interactions and an opportunity pipeline, technical and product data sheets;
- Discuss technical subjects at detailed fundamental theoretical and practical level;
- Manage and grow team of associate investigators performing technical work in support of quality investigations and development projects;
- Identify new opportunities for the Hydrogen Economy Venture and translate the ideas to executable projects;
- Self-manage time and resources to get results in the quickest and least costly fashion within limits dictated by maintaining safe operations, customer satisfaction and business impact.
- A minimum of a master’s degree in chemical engineering, civil engineering, material science or related technical material degree;
- Experience working with high end materials, strong technical aptitude in industrial renewable energy and energy storage applications and systems;
- Fluent in English language;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills, both internally and with external partners;
- A strong ’Customer Focus’ attitude, and ability to work at the speed of the partner and drive the projects to successful commercialization;
- Passion to learn new technical applications, materials, application methods and application performance characterizations;
- Ability and integrity to protect proprietary information and intellectual property;
- Quickly learn and follow all company core value rules and regulations.
