The IT Business Consultant - Innovation & Digital Transformation will report directly to the Senior IT Manager - Education, Innovation & Digital Transformation. The primary purpose of this role is to establish the Innovation and Digital Transformation practices for Sylvamo including new and emerging Disruptive Technologies.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Define, develop and implement an approved and well understood enterprise-wideinnovation framework (EIF) that enables streamlined and effective processes of connecting technology with innovative business value opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the business Disruptive Technologies group to bring emerging technologies to the business that will generate value to Sylvamo Commercial Excellence and Optimized Business Operations and Performance.
  • Leverage and/or create an idea management too that can collect, evaluate, prioritize, manage and route innovative ideas through the proper channels throughout the enterprise. Capabilities to include crowdsourcing, targeted campaigns, definable success criteria, metrics and reporting that emphasizes timely selection, prioritization and approval to the POC process in order to find the value add winners expeditiously.
  • Define and develop an uncomplicated, efficient and effective enterprise proof of concept (POC) framework that emphasizes speed of delivery, speed of funding and approval decision, with streamline execution to production and sustain.
  • Explore and implement emerging and current digital transformation technologies that can be used to enable digital optimization and digital business transformation across the enterprise.
  • Work closely with IT and Business peers across the enterprise to execute against the practice with respectful and collaborative discussion, challenging the status quo to create value for the company.
  • Enable an innovative culture that accepts intelligent risk, embraces failures and accepts uncertainty of value coming out from innovation efforts.
  • Educate and mentor other enterprise IT leaders and professionals at various levels with regard to emerging technologies, trends and potential value.
  • Develop an enterprise wide virtual Innovation Lab framework that supports prototyping, testing, POCs, hackathons, collaboration, training as well as other needs to be determined in the future.
  • Define a process to recognize and reward Sylvamo employees for participation in innovation activities.
  • Help build and facilitate innovation communities that build awareness with both the business and IT on what is possible using emerging and existing technologies as applied to business use cases as well as Sylvamo enterprise successes.
  • Define, develop and distribute innovation metrics and data reporting that aligns within the space of the Innovation and Digital Transformation team.
  • Cultivate intentional strategic partnerships and open innovation relationships with 3rd parties (customers, vendors, consulting companies, etc.)
  • Create SMART metrics and accurate reporting to measure progress, value creation and long term sustainability.
  • Practicing and advocating for Safety leadership at every opportunity.
  • Displaying leadership for continuous quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Challenges
  • This role is newly created role that will continue to evolve over time. It is a highly collaborative role that requires both internal and external agility and relationship management. Additionally, this role will need to become well versed in business strategy beyond IT in order to ensure that the innovation and emerging technology opportunities are aligned with the strategic direction of our company and businesses.
  • Must have exceptional communication, analytical, and influence skills as the position regularly and significantly provides information and opportunities to Sr. Manager and/or Director level IT and Business leaders.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must be able to influence and get work done through others in order to accomplish goals/tasks.
  • Need to work at a detail level and then rise above the detail in order to effectively communicate the business economics of an analysis.
  • Be able to quickly adapt to rapidly changing market place, business and organizational conditions
  • Balance the desire to implement new technologies without full consideration to the impact and costs on the technology environment and support structures at Sylvamo.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • 8+ years business and/or IT work experience
  • People leadership experience desired but not required
  • Exposure to developing an innovation and/or digital transformation practice
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • BS, BA, BBA or equivalent required (major in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related degree preferred)
  • Fluency in English
