LEGAL & COMPLIANCE OFFICER (M/F/D) - Visé, Belgium
Knauf Insulation is looking for a talented and experienced Legal and Compliance Officer to provide general legal support to the organization on a broad range of commercial, competition, privacy, regulatory and legal compliance matters.
The Legal and Compliance Officer reports hierarchically to the Knauf Insulation CFO and functionally into the Group Chief Compliance Officer. The role will have extensive indirect leadership tasks, collaborating directly with our most senior business leaders.
The position is based in our Global headquarters based in Visé, Belgium. A regular presence in our Global headquarters as well as regular travel to our markets and locations in EMEA & APAC will be required (20-30% of international travel). We offer a hybrid working policy (3 days office / 2 days home office).
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advising our leadership and business teams on legal and strategic matters, including gathering and coordinating advice in the fields of regulatory compliance, commercial, consumer, corporate and competition law, intellectual property, and litigation.
- Planning, advising, and implementing legal programs and improvements to support and protect the business.
- Communicating effectively on legal and policy issues.
- Negotiating, reviewing, and drafting commercial contracts.
- Handling pre-litigation and legal disputes and enquiries.
- Tracking regulatory compliance and maintaining up-to-date records of regulatory requirements and corresponding mitigating controls.
- Assisting, supporting, and advising KI management in fulfilling its compliance responsibilities.
- Implementing and monitoring of Knauf Group’s Compliance Program.
- Organizing periodical trainings on the Knauf Compliance Program as well as informational, educational, and raising awareness actions in Compliance related issues or topics.
- Periodically reporting to the Group Compliance on the effectiveness of the KI Compliance Program and/or Compliance incidents.
- Coordinating with other compliance functions – such as Group Compliance and Audit – to track compliance across the organization and pool expertise on vague or complex regulatory requirements.
YOUR PROFILE
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, law, finance, or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree in law or MBA preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in an international law firm or as an in-house counsel in an international environment.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with competition law.
- Experience working in a regulated and/or audited environment.
- Overall understanding of the commercial operation of business, including sales.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute across a range of businesses and functions with differing issues and interests.
- Solid business, financial and technical acumen to interpret data from financial systems.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) and other European languages (French / German highly desirable)
Soft Skills:
- Great interpersonal skills to collaborate with a wide diversity of colleagues in other disciplines and cultures.
- Analytical mind and business minded approach to legal issues and a keen interest in understanding the business, its strategic and financial goals, its ways of operations and its compliance and other risks, in order to be an effective business partner and risk manager.
- Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiating skills.
- Confident in delivering business critical presentations to all levels including C suite.
- Able to work independently and organize own workload.
- Execution focused: ensuring ownership is taken and promises made are delivered against.
