What To Expect

The Logistics Specialist Port Operations is responsible for the smooth operations of the finished vehicle logistics and cargo flows in one ports in the tesla logistics network in EMEA. This role keeps in close contact with key stakeholders including regulatory authorities, port operators, shipping lines, but also with the subsequent nodes in the Tesla distribution network, such as the trucking fleet and the delivery centers.

The Logistics Specialist Port Operations manages the day-to-day operations within the port. Task such as truck load creation, supporting the loading and unloading of trains, trucks and vessels, following up on shipment creation and other tasks in TMS, paperwork creation for incoming and outgoing shipments, problem solving and support of the port operator are part of the role.

  • Ensures itinerary complies with ship’s immigration / customs and legal obligations (incl. cabotage requirements)
  • Plans and agrees with local stakeholders the best location and conditions for the vessel’s call
  • Ensures that the Clearance Officer has all the necessary information pertaining to the ship’s call, i.e., garbage, bunkering, water, off loads, customs and immigration arrangements
  • Supports and or communicates itinerary changes and itinerary information effectively to shore side and shipboard partners
  • Manages Port Agency relationships
  • Responsible for updating Itinerary, Port & Agent and Pre-Arrival information
  • Supports the Expedition process
  • Responsible for communicating with various local authorities and third parties to obtain visa and health requirement information based on the Ship’s itinerary
  • Minimum of one year in advance of the call and communicating these requirements with the appropriate ship and shore side team members
  • Assists with determining ports of call and research product mix within budgetary guidelines
  • Assists in the coordination and execution of vehicle handling / repair / adjustment / inspection activities in the port, should these occur.
What You’ll Bring
  • BA 4 year degree or foreign equivalency and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Port Operations / International shipping
  • Financial analytical experience
  • Port logistics / expedition knowledge, Marine Operations a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of port operations
  • Strong knowledge of local regulations pertaining to a vessel’s call including worldwide cabotage restrictions, strong destination experience
  • Excellent world-wide geographical knowledge
  • Contacts with port agents, world-wide industry contacts is beneficial
  • Excellent research skills
  • Must have good command of the English language, both verbal & written
  • Must be able to travel based on job demands and requirements
  • Proficient in MS office to include, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Work irregular hours
