WE ARE:

The European Commission’ science and knowledge service, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) offers a vacancy for a Policy Officer – Technology Transfer.

The jobholder will be responsible for contributing to the work of the Competence Centre on Technology Transfer (CC TT) in relation to the twin green and digital transitions by delivering input to technology transfer policies, coordinating or contributing to projects and studies that are/will be carried out by the CC TT, in particular in relation to technology transfer policy development, as well as for fostering the exploitation of the knowledge produced by JRC’s scientific units.

The current vacancy is in Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit of the Competences Directorate of the JRC.

The mission of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit of Directorate for Competences of the JRCis to manage the Commission’s intellectual property rights and be the entry point for IPR advice. To raise awareness of IPR in the Commission services also via training and to promote technology transfer. This position will be in the JRC’s Competence Centre on Technology Transfer (CCTT). The CCTT operates as the main reference point for expertise on technology transfer at the Commission. Its mission is to push technology transfer up in the EU’s policy-making agenda and to support policy development, from upstream concept stage to the downstream implementation phase. The CCTT’s mission also includes deepening an understanding and promoting knowledge of technology transfer through research and aggregation of results and best practices.

The tasks of the successful candidate will be:

  • To contribute to the activities of the Competence Centre on Technology Transfer (CC TT), the European Commission’s primary platform for delivering input to technology transfer policies
  • to coordinate or contribute to projects and studies that are/will be carried out by the CC TT, in particular in relation to technology transfer capacity building and policy development
  • to foster the exploitation of the knowledge produced by JRC’s scientific units.

WE LOOK FOR:

Qualifications:

  • Completed university studies of at least 4 years attested by a diploma, preferably in a scientific discipline
  • A PhD will be considered a strong asset
  • Experience of and an interest in technology transfer, exploitation and commercialisation gathered in the technology transfer office of a research centre of university are an advantage
  • Experience of scouting technologies, of technology maturation and exploitation through licensing or start-up creation will be a distinct advantage
  • We are looking for a creative self-starter with a passion for and a background in technology.
